Doesn’t the Axisa article cover much more than just the bullpen usage? And how about a link or a quote posting the paragraph on the bullpen?

Robert: Polikowsky’s article is way too accomodating and positive toward’s Girardi’s decision in my estimation, even though he recognizes it was a mistake and he scratched his head when it happened. I think Axisa’s article from Riveraveblues is tougher on Girardi’s decision and more on the mark. Anyway, just my opinion. I’m not sure how Girardi has used his bull pen over the past 3 years has been as successful as Polikowski says it is, regardless of the stats.

Jeter used to be Mr. Clutch. You always felt he was going to get a hit or ignite a rally or bring in a run. But not anymore. They’ve messed around with his swing and stance this year and it has made him worse.

Look up the stats on Joe Mauer. What pitch does he love? The 4 seam fastball. What pitches did Logan throw him? 4 seam fastballs. Go figure!

Really annoying. A sure win before the 8th inning and the bull pen blows a 4 run lead and now let the Twins go ahead in the 10th. A very disappointing and unecessary loss. For me the turning point was the bad decision making by Girardi in the 8th to leave Soriano in too long and then bring in Robertson who has a track record of not being reliable in late innings and tight situations. Boone Logan hasn’t really got it done in spring training either. We thought starting pitching was going to be our achilles heel this year but tonight it was certainly the bull pen.

The bull pen is doing its best, other than Mo, to give the game to the Twins. The Yankees have to make sure they get the win with CC because none of the starters behind him are a sure win. They squandered that chance tonight.

I can’t understand Girardi’s reasoning here. When Soriano got in troube and it was obvious he was in trouble why didn’t Girardi bring in Mo instead of going to Robertson. All Mo had to do was retire one batter and the Yankees would have been out of the 8th with the lead. If he was going to bring Mo in anyway in the 9th or he was available if needed why leave him until the Twins tie the game? Spoiled a super effort by CC. Can someone tell me why Girardi would make the decision he made in the 8th inning and run the risk of throwing away a sure win?

I can’t believe this. A gem of a game by CC spoiled by a lousy bull pen. Why did Girardi leave Soriano in so long and why did he bring in Robertson? Robertson has not proven himself last year to be able to get it done in a tight situation. He’s too hittable. Poor pitching decisions. couldn’t Mo pitch 2 nights in a row? A real shame. Great pitching by the starter and the bull pen can’t close it out in the 8th inning. The Yankees should have had this game wrapped up.

CC is vintage CC tonight. And Tex has provided enough offence to this point. Bull pen needs to hold onto lead. Looking good.
