Grapefruit League Game 31: Yankees vs. Tigers

The Yankees’ bags are packed and there is a plane waiting at Tampa International Airport for them to get on, headed for New York City. It’s the last day of Spring Training and the Yankees are in full getaway mode; many did not arrive at George M. Steinbrenner Field until around 11 a.m., making their final preparations before leaving the Grapefruit League behind for 2011.

Here are the final lineups of the spring, and Joe Girardi said it is possible this could be the Yankees’ Opening Day lineup as well:

TIGERS (20-13)

Austin Jackson CF, Will Rhymes 2B, Magglio Ordonez RF, Miguel Cabrera 1B, Victor Martinez DH, Brennan Boesch LF, Jhonny Peralta SS,Alex Avila C, Brandon Inge 3B

Pitching: Rick Porcello RHP (0-2, 4.43 ERA this spring)

YANKEES (12-15-3)

Brett Gardner CF, Derek Jeter SS, Mark Teixeira 1B, Alex Rodriguez 3B, Robinson Cano 2B, Nick Swisher RF, Jorge Posada DH, Andruw Jones LF, Russell Martin C

Pitching: Freddy Garcia RHP (1-1, 5.93 this spring)

Flew down to Fla for weekend to watch yanks. two games in tampa and then followed them to Ft Meyers vs Minn. pre game, down by field with dozens of other yank fans watching BP and A Rod taking ground balls. after he was done, he walked near home plate and was casually talking to a groundskeeper. the other yank fans and i, very cordially, yelled out A Rod’s name with affection. he never once looked over or simply tipped his cap. no acknowledgement at all and he clearly hear everyone who seemed to adore him. what would it cost him to simply tip his cap? swisher did it all day in Tampa as did other yanks in tampa and Ft Meyers. pure arrogance.

It’s a good thing the Yanks didn’t trade for J-Bay.

That’s all folks!

Bartolo Colon will close!!! Fitting as the biggest Spring surprise.

I’m impressed with all of our pitching today!

To me, Garrison is in!!!

OK Freddy nice outing!

This Boesch kid appears to kill us!

Wonder how Garcia will do today now that he knows he “made it.”

Let’s go YANKEES!
