Feliciano will start season on disabled list
Yankees left-hander Pedro Feliciano said that he will stay behind in Tampa when the team goes north, beginning the season on the disabled list.
Feliciano has not pitched since March 9 and said he continues to be bothered by discomfort behind his left shoulder.
Additionally, right-hander Romulo Sanchez was saying goodbye to teammates in the clubhouse and has his bags packed. The Yankees have not announced where he is headed, but a trade seems final at this point.
Kevin Millwood was in the clubhouse and threw before the rains came. He said that it probably would have helped to come to camp earlier and be in the mix for the rotation discussion, but there’s no point wondering about it now. He’ll start the year at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and can opt out of his contract if he’s not in the big leagues by May 1.
The Yankees signed Eric Chavez to a Major League contract today and selected him to the 25-man roster.
