Baseball is back! Pitchers and catchers report today

It’s Valentine’s Day, which of course means this: Yankees pitchers and catchers will officially report to George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa this morning.

The first workout isn’t until tomorrow, which makes today largely ceremonial – the guys can come in, drop their bags, exchange hellos and then hit the highway. Some may hang around to hit the gym and get a lift in, but strictly speaking, today really just means that those players need to be in the Tampa area.
It’s still enough to let you know that winter has finally met its end. A lot of the guys have been in town for a week or more, and now the gang will be all here.
The clubhouse is open to reporters from 9 a.m. ET to 11 a.m. ET, so be sure to check Twitter for any newsy tidbits. Otherwise, Joe Girardi will hold his introductory welcome-back press conference at 11 a.m. in the Steinbrenner Field pavilion, and we’ll have complete coverage of the day on MLB.com and Yankees.com.
