The Yankees are willing to pay Derek Jeter some more.
The team has improved its three-year, $45 million offer to the shortstop, according to The Associated Press, which could indicate that the sides are moving closer to a new deal.
SI.com reported that the Yankees are willing to bump their offer by $1 to $2 million per year.
Jeter’s camp has been said to be looking for a four or five year deal worth about $23 million per year. Jeter’s agent, Casey Close, could come down from those demands to meet the Yankees’ new offer, which has not been disclosed.
