Mostly quiet at the Stadium as Yankees head home

yankeesphantompennant.jpgThe reporters who spent six hours in the Yankees’ clubhouse yesterday had a good spot to watch some of the NFL action, but that was about the only action going on in the Bronx.

Sunday was the annual ‘official’ locker cleanout day, although some of the players came by to gather their belongings after the charter flight landed from Dallas-Fort Worth on Saturday, and others will simply tip the clubhouse workers a few extra dollars to make sure their stuff arrives safe and sound back at home.

(Check out that photo of the pennants that would have been sold to celebrate the Yankees’ 41st AL pennant.)

So it was two lefties on the appearance roster. Damaso Marte showed up with his arm in a sling, the result of surgery on Friday to repair a torn labrum in his pitching shoulder, and said that he has been told he won’t even resume throwing until after the All-Star break.

That makes Boone Logan’s situation all the more important. As Logan stuffed his items in large cardboard boxes, he said he was thankful to have had a good year for the Yankees and would try to put his ALCS struggles behind him. A.J. Burnett also stopped by but turned around and disappeared as soon as he saw there were reporters in the room.

There’s more today at the Stadium, as Joe Girardi and Brian Cashman meet the media for Yankees post-mortems. There will be questions about why the chase for No. 28 ended on a comfortable evening in Arlington, but the more important and interesting answers will be given to the issues that face the team heading into 2011.

The Rangers and Giants are getting ready to play in the World Series, and for the Yankees, that means the offseason has begun.

Fan Confidence Poll: October 25th, 2010

I find it ironic that A Jerk splits from the room when he sees there are reporters present. Gutless jerk, doesn’t want to answer the questions as to why he had the year he had. There are reasons this team is sitting at home now. A Jerk is one of the major ones. When you take the millions you answer the questions. So go hideaway in Arkansas A Jerk. Maybe, just maybe,m you will be playing somewhere else next season.
