8/23 – Yankees at Blue Jays

Good evening from the Rogers Centre here in Toronto, as the Yankees get set to open a three-game series with the Blue Jays.

The Yankees are trying to improve on their fluky 13-0 record without Alex Rodriguez in the lineup, at the same time that they trot out something a batting order that Ivan Nova should have no trouble recognizing as he makes his first Major League start, especially at the bottom. And the Blue Jays are no pushovers.
“They’ve given us a hard time this year,” Joe Girardi said. “They’ve got all kinds of power up and down. They’ve played extremely well and had come from behind wins.”
Nova is a young pitcher who the Yankees have high hopes for, as you probably know, and Girardi thinks that the plan right now is that Nova will start in five days. Derek Jeter gets a day off tonight after playing 17 straight.

Gardner made a great throw in the 1st on the day before his birthday that really changed the inning. I really like your blog. I am a big Yankees and Rockies fan. I got one if you want to check it out!
