8/19 – Yankees vs. Tigers
It’s afternoon baseball in the Bronx as the Yankees and Tigers wrap up this four-game series, with Rick Porcello and Phil Hughes locking up on the big diamond.
The Yankees have made a roster move, placing Lance Berkman on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right ankle and calling up Eduardo Nunez from Triple-A. With Alex Rodriguez still hobbled by a calf sprain, GM Brian Cashman said he felt the Yankees had gone as long as they could by having Francisco Cervelli as the only backup third baseman.
After last night’s ugliness, don’t be surprised if both teams are issued a warning before today’s game. That’s up to Eric Cooper’s umpiring crew, but Joe Girardi said that he “would think there might be” warnings prior to the first pitch.
Here are this afternoon’s lineups:
TIGERS (58-62)
YANKEES (74-46)
Let’s go YANKEES!
At last we find some holes!
Got to tell you robertg I loved Paul O’Neill as a player but as a color man on games he is making me laugh my *ss off. The guy adds a lot to a telecast.
Gardner & Granderson need to get some better communication skills in the outfield. In KC they cost the Yankees and today the flyout Kay & O’Neill are talking about was trouble.
Jete no DP!
Seek,
Have you got eyes on MLBN?
All this without A-Rod?
And Mitre hangs in there!
yea robertg saw most of the game on MLBN. Just cracked up on O’Neill’s observations about Pedro & life with his wife. He does VERY well on television. Obvious that this guy knows the game. Yankee haters love to remind us fans about all of the bad trades the Yankees have made. However, the O’Neill for Roberto Kelly trade was one of the best ever made by the Yankees. That last inning in Yankee Stadium vs. Arizona in 2001 showed how much Yankee fans love Paul O’Neill.
12-0 without AROD (Mr steroid). Yes, he is a good fielder and yes he has shown home run power, BUT HE IS INCONSISTANT and continuous injuries. If the rest of the Yanks continue with different guys coming through with good games and the Pitching (though mediocre) gets on a steady pace….DO WE REALLY NEED AROD???? Maybe, maybe NOT……
