Pettitte throws at 75 percent

Thumbnail image for pettitte831.jpgAndy Pettitte’s session against live hitters in Tampa didn’t go as the Yankees would have hoped today.

He threw the full 50 pitches, but according to manager Joe Girardi, Pettitte didn’t feel comfortable going 100 percent with his groin and was only able to throw at about 75 percent effort.
Pettitte will head to Kansas City to be seen on Saturday, and the Yankees don’t think this is especially serious.
“Part of it could be that he feels a little something and is afraid to let it go,” Girardi said. “I think he did the right thing by not trying to push it. If he needs more time, then he needs more time.”
But as of now, this is a setback, and it’s looking like his timetable may be closer to the conservative four to five weeks originally provided when he went on the disabled list July 20. Pettitte won’t throw another simulated game until at least Wednesday.

2 men on base and called out on strikes? Shouldn’t be. At least swing at the #amn ball. You might put it into play. Kearns is a veteran. He should know better.

Moseley is getting killed tonight. Maybe we’re seeing the real Moseley after one or two abnormal games. He’s a rookie and you can’t expect too much too soon. Yankees need to get Pettitte back soon or come up with a more experienced starter. The worst team in the league and they’re up 3-0 in the second inning and Moseley has thrown 54 pitches already and he isn’t even out of the second inning. This could be a long night and a bad night for Yankee fans.

First inning Moseley looking pretty shaky with 12 strikes and 11 balls. Not a good strike/ball ratio. Too many hits. Fortunately Gardner threw out the runner at home.
