Greetings from Texas

texas.gifHello from the road once again as the Yankees prepare to open a six-game road trip against the Rangers and Royals, kicking off tonight as a good series begins with A.J. Burnett and C.J. Wilson locking up in Arlington.

While we’re here, it doesn’t appear Mark Teixeira will be. Tex was dressed in street clothes when he spoke to reporters after Monday’s game and was not on the charter flight with his teammates. Teixeira was given permission to stay behind with his wife, Leigh, who is expecting the couple’s third child — her due date is today.
Expect Lance Berkman to get the start tonight against the Rangers, with Marcus Thames likely to jump back in at DH. We’ll have more for you from the ballpark tonight.

Mo did NOt have it tonight but this one is on Girardi’s P*ss poor managing. Face it folks this team is NOT going to win a championship this year. It can’t beat the good teams. Again I go back to my statements at the start of the year, the players let go wer BETTER than the ones that replaced them.

Man Granderson is a JOKE! BRING BACK MATSUI!!!!

Well apparently Jeter did not attempt to sacrifice oneof5. Yeah Girardi is interviewing early for the Cub job cause that is NOT the way to manage late in a game. BAD job in the 9th Joe, next time BUNT or are your imitating the guy that preceded you, Joe NEVER BUNT TORRE?????

Intentional walk? Who’s this guy Moreland as pinch hitter? They must think he can hit. Then they have Andrus up and I would think he could get a hit too.

The Yankees are up against Cliff Lee tomorrow night, so if they don’t win tonight they could get swept and if the Rays win two games in a row the Rays are back in first place.

Anyone notice that the Texas manager had a hitter put down a sacrifice bunt to move the runner to second. He knows how to squeeze out a run. Maybe he can talk to Girardi and give him a few lessons.

Seeknay: I think he just grounded into a double play. I’m picking it up on Gameday tonight so not seeing the game so someone else might be able to give you more specific details of jeter’s double play out.

Marcus Thames 3 strikeouts tonight. Man, he can’t get it done. And Robertson walks the first batter in the 9th, so this could be it.

Like this

Did not see the top of the 9th, Did Jeter try to bunt or does that tax Girardi’s coaching ability? so what happened?

Like this

What’s up with Jeter? He’s striking out a lot this year. He’s hitting into double plays a lot. Mr. Clutch is no longer Mr. Clutch. He’s not what he used to be by any means. He’s still a great player but his career is beginning to wind down I think. A few years ago you could depend on him to get runners in scoring position home. Someone has to step up and get this done tonight. Again, should Jeter perhaps have bunted and tried to get on base. Now there’s 2 outs and they could be going into extra innings and anything could happen.

Logan got his job done. Now it’s up to Robertson and the Yankees offence in the 9th. They’ve got to find a way of manufacturing a run. Maybe they’ve got to do some small ball to advance the runners which Girardi doesn’t seem to like to do with this team. Maybe a bunt or two might be the way to go if someone gets on base. They can’t always depend on the big hit.

Gues what? Gardner grounded out and left Granderson on third. He really is Mr. Choke.

Like this

Gardner hasn’t done anything else tonight but strike out. Man on 3rd with 2 outs. Needs to get the run in somehow and hopefully get on base himself. Not confident in Gardner doing much in this situation. He’s got lots of speed and does ok defensively but don’t like his decisions at the plate. He swings at some really bad pitches.

Tell you oneof5 IF this team does not defend its championship we can only look at the offseason and the players picked up and let go of. Granderson has been a disaster, Vasquez a 500 pitcher, Johnson an always injured joke & still the middle relief was NOT addressed. Regardless of Tex being out for the birth of his child, last year’s team would have rallied and not be in this situation. There are way tooooooooooooooo many sure outs with this outfit.

Both the Rays and the Sox won tonight so if the Yankees lost this it’s going to get tighter and tighter. Only 1/2 game ahead of the Rays if that happens and 5 ahead of the Sox.
The Yankees are certainly doing a good job of trying to drop out of first place. Why would Girardi rest all these guys at the same time with Tex staying with his wife waiting for her to deliver. Today is the due date. Don’t they know that wives don’t usually have their babies on the due date. It could be another week unless they decide to induce her.

Bustnut = WASTE OF TIME AND $$$$$. They are paying how much for this 500 pitcher, are you kidding me????

Like this

Get Bustnett the #ell out of the game before it gets so out of hand the Yankees wouldn’t be able to catch up if they wanted to.

Like this

Nice job Bustnut!!! IF this team makes the playoffs they NEED Andy back soon. And for God’s sake pay the Cubs to take Bustnut in the off season. He is a #5 starter if that.

Way to go Burnett. Left him in until he finally gives up a home run with one on. This is one the Yankees could have squeezed out. It was obvious there wasn’t going to be much offence for the yankees tonight given the lineup. Actually Burnett has not had a good ball to strike pitch count tonight so has probably been lucky not to have been down more.

oneof5 I have no idea what Gardner was complaining about on the strikeout. He is like sooooooooo many on this team. They violate the rule of baseball, when there are guys on base, with less than 2 outs, PUT THE DA** BALL IN PLAY!!!!!!

Like this

Girardi finally got Cano back to work after being off for 6 innings and he fails to bring home the two guys on base. Cano isn’t really a good pinch hitter. he needs to be a starter and in the game.

Like this

Can anyone tell me why Gardner strikes out so much? He needs to get on base and should be bunting more if he can’t hit.

Like this

Swisher thinks he’s Gardner trying to beat the throw home, unless the third base coach waved him on which he’s done before to slow runners.

Like this

Isn’t this wonderful? 1 run so far and 2 hits by this mighty Yankee offence. Nice job of throwing away a game with the Rays leading Detroit in the 9th inning and the Red Sox leading the Jays. Great management decision here. Give them all a night off at the same time.

Man, this is a strange lineup tonight. Thames hitting in Texeria’s spot? Berkman and Kearns both in the lineup? Cervelli and Gardner? No Tex, no CAno, No Posada. Against a good pitcher and a good hitting team? If the Yankees win this thing tonight it will have to be a fluke.

How times have changed! Can you imagine a star player in a pennant race and in a tight race to stay at the top of its division 20 years ago having to be with his wife while she has their 3rd child? I know times have changed and now there’s maternity leave and paternity leave and husbands and wives breathing together in sessions leading up to birth etc. I won’t tell you what I was doing when my wife gave birth to our kids. I was at summer school for our first one and took a call in the hallway that the baby was on the way. The closest I got was the father’s waiting room at the hospital. That probably tells you how old I am. Are both Tex and Cano out of the lineup tonight? Is this a throw away game for Girardi? If the Yankees lose one or two of these games against Texas and the Rays win the Yankees could be looking at the Rays’ backsides again.

Expect it to be Hot as *ell in that ballpark tonight & every night. Over 100 degrees right now in Arlington and that park has little or no breeze. Had a choice to see the Yankees in Arlington or KC. Selected KC this weekend as it will be about 10-20 degrees cooler for a game.

Tex isn’t going to play because his wife is having a kid? Come on dude, take one for the team. You already have 2 kids. You don’t really need to see the 3rd one born. What is this world coming to?
