7/29 – Yankees at Indians

072910arod.jpgHello from Progressive Field, as the Yankees wrap up this four-game set with the Indians and look to take three of four in the set. You’ll notice Jorge Posada is not in the lineup tonight, even though he said he could have played.

Joe Girardi said Posada told him his left knee was still feeling a little cranky, and the Yankees are expecting Posada to play two of three games in the upcoming weekend series against the Rays in St. Petersburg.

If you look at the standings, as well as the Yankees have played, they just haven’t been able to shake those pesky Rays. That’s not likely to change anytime soon, Phil Hughes said.

“They’ve been playing great and even when we’ve gotten on some hot streaks, they’ve stayed right there,” Hughes said. “We expected that coming out of Spring Training, that they’d be tough, and they have been.”

We’re getting ahead of ourselves. Here are tonight’s lineups in Cleveland as Alex Rodriguez yet again goes for home run No. 600:

YANKEES (64-36)

Derek Jeter SS, Curtis Granderson CF, Mark Teixeira 1B, Alex Rodriguez 3B, Robinson Cano 2B, Nick Swisher DH, Brett Gardner LF, Francisco Cervelli C, Colin Curtis RF
Dustin Moseley RHP (0-0, 4.22)

INDIANS (42-59)
Trevor Crowe CF, Asdrubal Cabrera SS, Shin-Soo Choo RF, Carlos Santana C, Austin Kearns LF, Matt LaPorta 1B, Jayson Nix 3B, Shelley Duncan DH, Luis Valbuena 2B
Mitch Talbot RHP (8-9, 4.08)

Can anyone tell me why Cervelli would swing at the first pitch when Talbot had walked three guys in the inning? And it wasn’t even a good pitch. You can’t do that and hit into a double play with the bases loaded and one run behind early in the game. Not a good decision I don’ think. this is a tough position to put Moseley into trying to fill in for Pettitte. This is his test whether he’ll pitch for Pettitte the next time in the rotation. It could be ugly. Let’s hope he pitches a strong game however long Girardi leaves him in.

The Yankees have broken it open in the 7th. A BIG high five for Dustin Moseley. Great job by him. Joe followed my advice of last week and started Moseley over Mitre. I will send him the invoice tomorrow for my consultation.

Many missed opportunities so far. 9 men left on base already. They need some clutch hits to get guys home. Ridiculous they only have 1 run with all the offence they’ve generated tonight plus the walks given up by the Indians pitchers. Rays won today so they need this one to be at least 2 ahead when they play the Rays this weekend. Swisher came close.

Too much hype around A Rod’s 600th. Too much pressure and he’s trying too hard. It’s not going to happen as long as everyone is focused on it including A Rod himself.

Nice to see the Yankees break out the bats. A Rod can take as long as he wants with no.600, as long as he keeps driving in runs all is well in Bomber-land. I think he is only 4 back on Cabrera for the major league lead in RBIs.

Now lets just hope the Yanks keep the offense flowing in the crucial series at Tropicana Field. WIn the AL East and the Bronx will host the winner of the AL Central. Fall behind the Rays and they travel to Texas to duel Cliff Lee and the Rangers.

For God’s sake Girardi and Cashman RELEASE Chan The Hoe Park. Thos guy STINKS!! Can’t get three outs with a 10 run lead. What a JOKE. Get someone else for middle relief.
