Hello from Orange County, as Major League Baseball descends on the Disneyland region for the 81st All-Star Game. It should be a fun couple of days here, and busy ones as well – no time to test out the rides or head for the surf. But there will be plenty of sun over at Angel Stadium, and lots to do.
Today, MLB will make the All-Star teams available at a local hotel, with both managers conducting interview sessions and revealing their lineups. Remember, Joe Girardi has the added pressure of not becoming the first losing AL skipper since 1996. Tonight is the State Farm Home Run Derby, and Nick Swisher will be hitting fourth in the order, swinging for the fences and promising Kevin Long that the competition won’t wreck his swing.
I’m looking forward to seeing how Angel Stadium gets dressed up for its days in the spotlight. I’m also going to have to carve out a few minutes to check out the All-Star FanFest – there’s always tons of cool stuff to look at around there. The one at the Javits Center in New York was a lot of fun. Wish you were here!
