Alex Rodriguez and Dallas Braden have left their feud on the field.
Braden sent a peace offering to the Yankees clubhouse at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum before Tuesday’s game, having a box delivered to Rodriguez that included a poster commemorating Braden’s perfect game – with a personalized inscription – and a T-shirt referencing the duo’s April argument.
“It’s all good. That stuff was really nice,” Rodriguez said. “We opened and closed that window.”
The Athletics have been selling “Get Off My Mound” T-shirts in reference to the incident earlier this season, when Braden accused Rodriguez of breaking one of baseball’s unwritten rules by stepping on the mound as he returned to first base after a Robinson Cano foul ball.
While Braden said he was uncomfortable with the T-shirts, one was worn in the Yankees clubhouse on Monday by Cano, to great laughter, and manager Joe Girardi also has one. Now that Rodriguez got his own, he returned the favor by signing 10 of the T-shirts, with the idea that Braden could also sign them and have them auctioned for charity.
