6/23 – Yankees at D-backs

camelback.JPG

Hello again from Chase Field out in the Arizona desert, where the Yankees will be trying to win the rubber game against the D-backs before getting on a charter flight and winging it to sunny Southern California. We know at least one Yankee – Mariano Rivera – plans to spend his off-day on those golden beaches.
In the clubhouse, most of the discussion with reporters was about the upcoming series with the Dodgers and a reunion with one Joseph Paul Torre. The ‘Core Four’ all speaks about Torre as a second father figure, although it is safe to say not everyone in the clubhouse felt that way in his later years. Alex Rodriguez, for one, wanted no part of talking about Torre, calling it “business as usual” to go to Los Angeles.
A win tonight would push the Yankees back to their season high water mark of 18 games over .500, where they last were on June 15. And, in a horrible attempt to make this segue, that photo is of a place where water is – I can confirm – quite scarce. (Jackrabbits, however, are abundant.)

So i hear that a certain someone who has a certain “talent” will be producing a 2010 team sketchbook? In a yankee colored blue and white marble compostion book, each player in a different pose? can this be confirmed?

Bob,
Javy is not on tonight! Not as bad as Willis, but just can’t locate!!!

Vasquez’s strike/ball ratio not very good. Not a strong game for him. He’s been pitching well lately. Hopefully he can pitch 7 innings before he has to pass over to the pen. But the Yankees need to get their bats going.

Robert: It looks like you’re talking to yourself so far tonight. Vasquez looked strong in the first few innings but has given up 4 runs. Yankees need to get some offence going and Vasquez needs to shut the Diamondbacks down. One has to wonder why the “Diamondbacks have lost so many games this year the way they’re playing the Yankees. Since the Rays lost as well as the Jays it’s a chance to put some breathing space between them and the next few clubs. Need a win tonight. the Sox have gone ahead of the Rockies and they’re hot on our heels.
