Andy Pettitte is now 6-0 with a 1.12 ERA (40.1 IP, 5 ER) in six daytime starts this season, and while it’s probably a coincidence – he has pitched well under the lights as well – the Yankees would be wise to continue giving him the ball when the sun is out, whenever possible.
“I love day games,” Pettitte said. “I’m not much of a night owl and I’m up pretty early in the morning. I really like day games. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it, but I know that I love waking up and getting here and pitching instead of hanging out and having to wait until 7 o’clock. I don’t know if there’s anything behind it, but I do know that I love pitching in day games.”
