5/27 – Yankees at Twins

Kind of hard to believe this is the end of a seven-day road trip, isn’t it? Amazing what having the Subway Series to break things up can do. Anyway, the Yankees will go for a three-game sweep of the Twins tonight here at lovely Target Field, which has definitely shot near the top of my list of favorite ballparks.
I got here a little early today and wandered the concourses, and was left with one thought as I examined Kirby Puckett’s 1992 Gold Glove Award, a Harmon Killebrew for Governor bumper sticker and other cool items from the past — they’ve done a great job integrating history here, so much that the whole building is like a Twins museum.
Get this – that black flagpole in right field flying the American flag is the same flagpole from Metropolitan Stadium, where it flew the Stars and Stripes until 1981. Upon demolition of ‘The Met,’ the flagpole was moved to the American Legion in Richfield, Minn., and donated back to the Twins in 2009 for use at Target Field.
Cool little touches like that are abundant throughout the building. They really put the time and energy in to pay attention to detail.

Prideyankee: By the way it’s Petitte, not Petit. Petit is french for little. You might say he’s living up to his name. Right now Petitte is one of the more consistent Yankee’s starters in spite of his age.

8-2 now thanks to Chan Ho No Go pitching. When will this franchise figure out that there is HUGE difference between AL pitchers & NL pitchers. STOP BUYING/TRADING FOR NL PITCHERS!!!!

Well thanks to the Royals the Yankees will NOT lose ground to the redsox. Unfrotunately, the only winner right now this evening are the Rays.

Well it appears Javier has reverted back to his old form tonight. Pull within 2 runs and the National Pitcher gives up a solo shot. With Aceves out maybe this team ought to consider trading this guy back to the NL and get another middle reliever to replace Javier.
