5/25 – Yankees at Twins

IMG_0271[1].jpg

Hi there from under the lights at Target Field, which the New York media seems to have universally pegged as a near-perfect ballpark. It really is beautiful here. I wandered a little bit today and was impressed by how much they’ve integrated Twins history, as well as providing so many of the modern conveniences and dining options that the Metrodome lacked.

Good stuff. In fact, I only found one problem with the whole place. Click here to see.

That little typo aside (and probably unnoticed), the Yankees seemed pretty pleased with the new place. Here’s what Joe Girardi had to say:

“I love being outdoors, and this is beautiful,” Girardi said. “I think people are truly going to appreciate this park.”
So here are tonight’s lineups:

Derek Jeter SS
Brett Gardner CF
Mark Teixeira DH
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B

Game delayed W/rain.. If the Twins scored in the 5th They could have called the game, and won! …. It’s been raining hard for quite a while they should have stopped an inning or so ago.. We have to do a lot better w/RISP, WE can’t even advance the runners with our so called heart of the order at bat……..
“GO YANKEES!”

Swisher catches Morneau’s drive right under the flower box. This place does play big.

It has started raining lightly here at Target Field. No score through two as A.J. Burnett gets out of trouble again.

Now Cano grounds into a double play. 2 double plays in 2 innings nullifying a hit by Gardner and by ARod. I hope not an omen of things to come tonight.

Tex hits into a double play in the first inning. This guy is really out of whack at the plate right now. He’s out ahead of the pitch all the time. He’s swinging at bad pitches and looking bad doing it. I hope someone can straighten him out pretty soon. We’re going to need him down the stretch if we have a hope of getting to the World Series.
