Pettitte to be skipped

Just catching up here, but in case you’ve missed it thus far, Andy Pettitte will be skipped in his next start as a precaution after the mild inflammation in his left elbow.

Pettitte wasn’t exactly thrilled with the decision but he did understand – however, he’d have liked to have had the opportunity to play catch for the coaching staff before a decision was made.
Sergio Mitre will start Monday at Detroit, throwing 65 to 75 pitches, and Javier Vazquez gets the ball Tuesday. Jorge Posada thinks he might be able to play Saturday, and Mariano Rivera is available to pitch tonight.
Also, right-hander Romulo Sanchez is here in the Yankees bullpen as outfielder Greg Golson has been sent back to Triple-A.
