Where it all began: On this date in 1903, the Yankees and Red Sox (known at the time as the Highlanders and Americans, respectively) met for the first time at Boston’s Huntington Avenue Grounds. Boston won, 6-2, in a game that lasted 1 hour and 38 minutes. Joe West would have been grinning.
