Updates from Yankee Stadium
Some pre-game news to report from the Bronx:
- Mariano Rivera is scheduled to throw a bullpen today. Jorge Posada is not going on the DL at this moment; the plan is that he still may be ready to catch by Friday. He’ll be evaluated tomorrow.
- Greg Golson has been called up from Triple-A as the Yankees think they can use Posada as an emergency catcher – just not for nine innings. Joe Girardi said that Golson isn’t necessarily strictly a bench player, there are some situations where he might consider starting him against a lefty.
- Down in Tampa, Chan Ho Park is throwing a half-mound today and could try to throw a full mound session tomorrow.
- Girardi visited today with FDNY Engine 39, Ladder 16 in Manhattan and got to try the gear on. He was surprised how heavy and hot it was.
