5/3 – Yankees vs. Orioles

Hello from the Bronx on a muggy night, where the biggest news is that the Yankees are making a little switch in their rotation, pushing Javier Vazquez back to miss the Red Sox series at Fenway Park. It seems like a no-brainer with the off-day Thursday, pitching Phil Hughes on Friday in Boston. Vazquez will pitch Monday in Detroit instead.

Brian Cashman wasn’t selling any illusions of a quick fix when he spoke with reporters on the field during batting practice.
“He’s struggling, so we’ve got to find a way to get him back on line. It won’t be easy; it probably won’t be quick. He’s going to do everything he can to get back on track.

“It will take some steps. It’s not like it’s going to be ‘shazam’ with a lights-out Javier Vazquez start that we saw last year. I think we’ll build up to that.”

That’s a plea for patience – something Yankees fans didn’t have much of on Saturday when he couldn’t get out of the fourth inning. Anyway, moving on…
