Joba was throwing mid 90’s with an awesome slider, Yankees came back against Lester, Cano is earning the 5 spot, and Rivera was his usual self, double to Scutaro notwithstanding.

Like

Joba is the 4th pitcher in a span of 4 batters. Girardi is still a fan of the matchups isn’t he.

I know we are all Yankee fans here, not a particularly patient bunch. Though lets give Teix more than 9 at-bats before bashing him for another slow start.

I’m more concerned about the 3rd error of the game. Youkillis wasn’t going to steal there.

yankee pride: Thanks for your history lesson on ST vs. regular season. They’re paying Tex very well to hit well April to October. A sluggish start can get the Yanks in such a hole that it will take a huge effort to get out of it. They almost didn’t get out of it in 2009. Why didn’t Girardi pinch run Posada at second in the 8th inning tied at 4-4? Do they not have a back up catcher? Is Cervelli injured? Who’s backing up Posada? Anyway, one run is not safe against a team like the Red Sox.

I think that’s Johnson’s first RBI in his second tour as a Yankee. Figures that it would come on a walk.

ok Sean, it’s only one game. But this is another game and the Yankees are already down 3-1 and I really don’t like their chances. They’re certainly not better so far. AJ has a lousy record against this team and the way our guys are hitting so far one can already begin to see the outcome of this game too. I’ve said all along that the Spring training means something and Boston has carried much more momentum and success over from spring training than the Yankees, at least up to this point. It’s just a hunch based on what I’ve seen so far but the Yankees could get swept this series.

When is Tex going to wake up and start hitting? I know everyone will say he’s slow to get started. How can you be slow to get started being paid the kind of money he is being paid and having gone through spring training. A poor excuse really! And ARod isn’t doing much yet either. They were rather cold in spring training and still pretty cold. The Yankees don’t look like they want to win as much as the Red Sox. There’s a lack of intensity and good work ethic it seems to me. No wonder Gardner isn’t in tonight given the way he played left field last night. Not getting the guys in with only 1 out and the bases loaded in the 2nd inning could very well come back to haunt them tonight. A missed glorious opportunity!

It’s only one game. The Yankees should be better tonight.

Aussie Brian: Love your optimism but sometimes your assessment of the Yankees performance and the coach’s judgment and decisions is too positive for me. Anyway, let’s see where we are at the end of this series.

Is Granderson going to be the Cano of 2009? Can’t clutch hit and drive in runners on base? Bases loaded and a poor at bat. Jeter didn’t get a hit either with bases loaded. yankees have to take advantage of their opportunities with a team like this or they could be in serious trouble again tonight. You;ve got to capitalize when you have your chances, especially early in the game. They should have had more than 1 run. AJ doesn’t have a great record against the Red Sox. They’ve got to win the series at least against the Red Sox or you’d have to question their chances moving forward. They can’t afford to get in a hole against this year like last and have to struggle to catch up. You can’t do that every year.

Got to score here. Bases loaded, nobody out.

Alright Mr.DH, 1st and 3rd nobody out. Get it done.

Gotta love Jorge, but he can’t run to save his life.

Come on AJ, K or double play!!!!

Pop fly drops, steal and advance on a bad throw. All of a sudden Ellsbury is standing on third with nobody out. Oh, and Gardner might have caught that ball.

Just need to remind myself that its only game 2.

Here we go again one game in and already some bloggers saying this team is rubbish, Giradi is rubbish. Settle down sadly Giradi arrived without his crystal ball again so could not foresee CC giving up 5 runs one third into the sixth, a pity. Let us all remember CC averaged 7 and a third innings in 09 and got off to the same slow start. He is a huge guy and will take a week or so to hit top gear. If Giradi pulled him after 5 and Robertson and Park give up the lead you would have hung Giradi for pulling him out . let us all settle down and wait till harsh judgements are handed out. The offence was super without performances from Jeter Tex and ARod and still managed 7 runs. Hopefully Burnett comes out firing bullets and not blanks.
