Home opener might have a nice ring to it
No surprises here about this item, but TMZ.com (of all places) is reporting that the Yankees are scheduled to receive their 2009 World Series rings on April 13, which is the date of New York’s home opener against the Angels.
While that seems appropriate, take it with a grain of salt – their original report claimed it was happening on April 14, and the current version has been scrubbed of any edits. In any event, the Yankees have made no official announcement regarding the details of the home opener or a ring ceremony.
That said … we all know the Yankees are going to get their World Series rings sooner or later, and whenever it happens, it will be a fun event to watch.
“I’m very excited about it, honestly,” A.J. Burnett said. “I haven’t even looked at the ring online. I don’t want to check it out. I want to see it when they give it to us. It’s going to be great. I can’t wait to be there with the fans and the crowd. That’s going to be more important than getting the ring, I think, to get that at home in front of everybody and let them enjoy it as much as we do.”
“I can’t wait,” Joba Chamberlain said. “I kind of heard different reports on what it looks like, so I’m excited to finally see it and get out there — and make sure it fits.”
