The World Series trophy makes the rounds

On Thursday, the Yankees attended a dinner with Dominican Republic President Dr. Leonel Fernández at the National Palace. Yankees Senior Vice President Felix Lopez, Bench Coach Tony Pena, 2B Robinson Cano, LHP Damaso Marte, C Francisco Cervelli and RHP Edwar Ramirez as well as several Yankees minor leaguers represented the organization and also brought the 2009 World Championship Trophy to share with the President.
President Fernández is seen holding the trophy wearing a blue suit with a blue tie, alongside the Dominican Republic’s Secretary of State for Sports and Recreation, Felipe Payano.
On Friday, the Yankees took the 2009 World Championship Trophy to the U.S. Embassy and the National Police Headquarters. In the afternoon, the Yankees met with the Mayor of San Pedro de Macoris and the President of City Commission, who gave the Yankees a tour of the historic Dominican Republic town.
That evening, at Quisqueya Stadium in Santo Domingo prior to the Dominican Winter League playoff game between the Licey Tigers and Escogido Lions, Yankees Senior Vice President Felix Lopez threw out the ceremonial first pitch and the Yankees displayed the 2009 World Championship Trophy for the fans in attendance.
