World Series Game 4: Yankees at Phillies

Hello from Citizens Bank Park on a cool, clear night that is perfect for a little November baseball. We heard a few people talking about a full moon over Philadelphia tonight, and that might mean we’re in for a little craziness as the Yankees and Phillies get set to play Game 4 of the World Series.

It seems like we might have a rowdy crowd on hand tonight, as today proved to be a great sports day out here with the Eagles playing the Giants across the street. A lot of fans are pulling off the gridiron/diamond doubleheader, and the beer was flowing out in the parking lot early this morning. That means that if the Yankees can put some runs on the board early, maybe they can take the crowd out of the equation, bringing on some droopy eyes.

Here are the lineups:

YANKEES
Derek Jeter SS
Johnny Damon LF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Jorge Posada C
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Melky Cabrera CF
CC Sabathia P

Pitching: LHP CC Sabathia (3-1, 1.57 ERA in postseason)

PHILLIES

Jimmy Rollins SS
Shane Victorino CF
Chase Utley 2B
Ryan Howard 1B
Jayson Werth RF
Raul Ibanez LF
Pedro Feliz 3B
Carlos Ruiz C
Joe Blanton P

Pitching: RHP Joe Blanton (0-0, 4.66 ERA in postseason)

Are you all believers now? I still don’t think it’ll matter for some of you if the “moron” ends up getting #27 taken care of, you’ll still be calling him a moron.

We can’t have 9 Derek Jeters… can’t have 9 A-Rods and can’t have 5 CC’s and 6 Mo’s. SO DEAL WITH IT.

Swisher has been a fine member of this squad and had plenty of contributions that got this team to the position they’re in. Cano as well. Pressure has a way of affecting people and it would seem they need to work on how they let it affect them more than anything.

I think the 98-99 Yankees spoiled a lot of you.

This team has shown a great deal of grit and the ability to regain their composure.

The play last night (in picking up Joba) was some of the best ‘rising to the occassion I’ve seen from the Yankees in a very long time. Totally awesome. The gutsy move by Damon, the AB by A-Rod and Jorge… that doesn’t come from hanging your heads like half of you do when things aren’t going are way. Stop WHINING! Crap happens, things don’t always go our way. Keeping your chin up leads to the possibility of what happened last night, not hanging your head and accepting defeat.

#27 is coming and then you can finally be happy. Too much fortitude on this team to let what happened against the Bosox happen this year. Bank it.

As the Yanks edge in on a world series title, I am particularly pleased this team takes nothing for granted and knows the Phillies have the capability to win three in a row. But with that said, I like the Yankees chances especially with potentially two home games and Mariano to nail it down. Moreover, this is really a good team that doesn’t care who gets the credit, as long as it is a W. With regard to ARod, with all his talent he simply had to go through a bunch of adversity to become a team player. Whether it be his regular season, his playoffs, or the series——the guy simply became a team player and his success this year is due to that.

ARod’s been hit 3 times and Texeira twice. Yet the talking head idiots say it’s not intentional.
The best payback for the Yanks to give is score every time it happens, knock the cover off the old ball!

And Howard, Rollins and Utley better wear football gear next spring when they face the Yanks.

No exactly the opposite I have a short memory and one of my personal biggest faults is that I do not forgive or not too ofter. The long and negative sledging he copped over the years has bordered on slander. He has been hammered, yes this year he has turned it around, maybe he has found love very comforting and is finally in a good place. I would have liked to hear those who hammered him to death put pen to paper and apologise. Just how many times has he got this team back into the game this year and this post season. Rob he has been hammered to death since Game 1 almost.

Having said that I know that expectations are high especially a ten year 280M contract player.
Can even ARod fire up Texeira ?

Is there any news on Melky has he torn a hamstring it looked like it on the coverage but there was no mention of it.

Now to win one out of the next three, but Lee will be the toughest obstacle and I will be surprised if Hamel gets another start after the negative comments he made. Did he say ” I just want the season to be over ” Was that an exact quote or one that was twisted by media.

Glad to see ARod delivered the winning double after being hit 3 times by these Pedro wannabees. And McCarver says there was no intention. Yeah right Tim, just get a cup of Shut The *uck Up, jerk. Anyone want to guess who AJ is gonna drill tomorrow night?

To everyone out there

If I read one more comment that Alex Rodriguez is not clutch or what I will lose it.

I might be here in Melbourne Australia but boy am I on this rollwer coaster. First CC gives up the home run to Utley 4-3. Then Joba gives up a home run with two out and with two outs and two strikes. Then 2 early outs before Damon gets on and somehow steals two bases to get to third. Then A ROD and Hip Hip with a two run double to get back up by three with ” The EXECUTIONER ” to start the ninth

Gidday Rob

Now with two outs in the ninth I will get back to the game

Hang in there mate

Feliz and Ruiz both love the high, inside heat!

Well Cano really smashed that one, don’t get me wrong I hope it gets him going. Swish with guys in scoring position it does no good to take close pitches.

I wanna see some runs!

I’ll tell you if there are runners on in the late innings and it’s Cano up I’d pinch hit.

Well at least Cano made Blanton throw some pitches in this AB. But man Cano is stinking up the place in the WS. Not sure that I would not bench him vs. Lee tomorrow.

I thought Cano would do a little better facing Blanton!

God learn how to bunt CC.

Either tonite or tomorrow nite someone is going to get drilled by a Yankee pitcher. This throwing at ARod is classless. Pedro must have taught them it.

After Alfie Soriano Cano could be the most undisciplined hitter I have ever seen in a Yankee uniform. Would not mind after all of this postseason is over to see the Yankees take offers for this guy. He has worn out his welcome with me.
