From the desk of George M. Steinbrenner

This statement dropped in not too long ago:

“This has been a tremendous year for our team as we have settled into our new home.  The New York Yankees are proud of our rich history of outstanding players and this year’s team has worked hard to  prove that they are worthy of the great distinction of calling themselves Yankees.

“We look forward to finishing what we started this season and never losing sight of our goal – to bring another championship to the best fans in the world  and the great city of New York.”

What are the yankees doing? You cant lose players like Matsui and Damon and not make a move to replace them. Thats alot of Homeruns and RBI,s to let go and not make a move. The Red Sox,s are making alot of moves. What are we going to do to protect our WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. We have some players we could trade for like Derick Lowe, or Ben Sheets and Carlos Delgatto as a DH for our short right field. He could be our next hero for a low price. We need to beat the Red Soxs to the punch. What about offers for Matt Holiday, and Jason Bay. We could dump salaries from a few others or get some lower priced talent. Lets load up for the new year and make all the others teams keep calling us the evil empire. A great Steinbrenner tradtion that we all love. LIVE ON MR STEINBREENER YOUR MY HERO.

Need to make some moves. Cant wait till the Red Soxs take what they want. And leave us the scrap heap to pick from. We are the champs and the evil empire so lets protect our image and lets go out having everyone curse the yankees for what we do best steal players from the weak teams. Show them George Steinbenner who the boss is.

The key is the pitching. In particular, will our starters produce quality starts? The Yankees with their solid line-up can anticipate key hits from someone, but if they get down early by 3 runs or more and the other team knocks the starter out early, this is the recipe for Yankee disasters. But with that said, the top three starters are all very solid thus expect good things. This is the best Yankee team in the last 7 years and let’s face it, the true home of the World Series is Yankee Stadium.

Also, A-Rod can’t hit in the post season. He’s a regular season performer. Let’s see how he does in the post season before claiming him a hero.

I don’t think the Yankees’ rotation is superb. The only pitcher the Yankees can count on is CC and he got rocked in his last game.

Count me as an Alex non-believer at the start of the season. But that man came back from surgery and played his heart out. He converted me.

His seven RBI’s in one inning coming from two HR’s is something many of us might see ever again. What hits! Not only is this a Yankees year but it will be Alex’s also.

The strength of this 2009 team is such that anyone in the line up 1-9 can be the hero. Amazing team.

This is the year of the New York Yankees. Their offense is fantastic; rotation is superb and the bullpen is outstanding. Don’t see how anyone can beat this team either in the division series or the WS. The bats have to keep producing.

Every NY fan will walk through tomorrow just anticipating the first play off game. Let’s go Yankees!

A repeat of the 2002 results mentioned two threads ago by Aussie Bryan would be a disaster, but this is an entirely different team that is not coming off of four straight WS appearances. We did beat the Angels 8-5 in the first game that year, but they ran off three straight to make it feel like a sweep and went on to win the WS. I would prefer we play on grass but the Twins are hot. I’ll be glued to the tube on Tuesday!!!
