Despite CC’s masterful performance, I didn’t think the Yankees deserved to win this one after the LOUSY non-hitting w/RISP, but once the Sux blew the Gardner play at 3B and walked Molina, I could get behind this one.

And speaking of one…

Yankees are doing good right now.

I really thought Cervelli would be catching today; I truly respect Molina’s defensive skills–Martinez and Crapitek combined cannot equal him–but when he’s in the lineup you might as well let the pitcher hit 9th. Especially if it’s CC. But I guess it’s politics: Girardi doesn’t want to show up his backup C by playing the rookie in an important game against the Sux. If you’re willing to live with the lack of production that decision carries with it, well, then…

How in heaven’s name do you swing at the first pitch, A-Rod and Matsui, when Dice-K has walked the previous 2 hitters to load the bases? If Billy Martin were still around he’d fine them both and deservedly so.

This game should be at least 6-0, instead the Yankee hitters have made Dice-K look good by not hitting in the clutch. (Thank goodness for Robbie’s HR.) Jeez…

What is going on? bases loaded with no outs and the Yankees can’t get one run! Is Matzazuka that good or are the Yankee hitters that bad today? Where’s the clutch hitting? Man they’re making it hard to CC to win his 19th. They’ve had all kinds of chances at the plate and have blown every one. This has happened too many times through the year. I know their record etc. but come the playoffs they’re going to have to do better with runners on base and in scoring position.

This is ridiculous. They can’t get in the guys on base. That’s been a problem that’s cropped up fairly frequently for the Yankees this year. Getting the clutch hits with runners on base. And Molina is one of the worst. He is really useless as a hitter. The Yankees are going to have to come up with a better back up catcher than Molina for next year. I’d rather see Cervelli in there. He’s a young guy, throws well, and can get some hits and calls a good game. Molina drives me crazy when he comes to bat with runners in scoring positions and the opportunities for runs are wasted. Hopefully this has got to turn around soon in this game or the Sox will eventually get to CC or the bull pen and we’ll have missed an opportunity to reduce the number to one for the AL East win and home field advantage.

I can’t believe what Peter Abraham did today. I’m really shocked by it. Maybe he thought since his days are ending as a Yankee blogger, he can go around starting trouble?

I don’t know about you but it sure seems like the home plate umpire has a horrible strike zone today. Just sayin…

CC is doing his job but the Yankee hitters are doing their usual thing in not getting the guys on base in. Molina is a useless hitter. He may be a good back up catcher defensively but he can’t hit. Get him in a clutch situation with men on base and he usually gets out which he did last inning. And then ARod with men on the corner strikes out and then interferes with the catcher and makes it three outs and ends the inning. And then he walks away with the smug look on his face again chewing away on his gum. They’re hitting Matzazuka but again not getting the guys on base in and good hits are wasted. They need to sharpen up at the plate. Hopefully as the game goes on things will change. They don’t want to waste a good outing by Sabbathia and not get him his 19th win.
