N.Y. media thumps Boston media, 13-2

In one of the best annual traditions running in the big leagues, the New York media and the Boston media took to the diamond this morning at Fenway Park and played a hardball classic. We’re all proud to report the final score went New York’s way, 13-2.

Since there will be no Yankee Stadium game in 2009, New York wins the season series. Tyler Kepner of The New York Times picked up the win and Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record hurled the final inning in his return to the media game. Player-manager Anthony McCarron of the New York Daily News had the big day at the plate, driving in five runs including a three-run triple.

Regardless of the score, a great time was had by all. I played left field for five innings in front of the Green Monster and it’s such a thrill to actually get to play on a big league diamond. Huge thanks are due to the Red Sox and especially the grounds crew for coming in early and taking the tarp off the field. See you in 2010, we hope.
