8/23 – Yankees at Red Sox

Here are the lineups as we get ready to go for the third and final game of this series … believe it or not, the last time the Yankees and Red Sox will play at Fenway Park unless they meet in the 2009 American League Championship Series. You’d have to think that’s a distinct possibility, but until then…

This should be a great pitching matchup on ESPN between a couple of the game’s top pitchers in CC Sabathia and Josh Beckett.

The tarp is on the field as of 7 p.m. ET and some of the Yankees are spending the pre-game hours watching golf and talking fantasy football. Seems like a very relaxed atmosphere. The extra time after the loss has done them some good, you’d think.

Johnny Damon is back in the lineup and chirping about how good his right knee feels. He certainly benefited from the day off. Damon laughed that he’d dodged another bullet – something it seems like he’s been doing his whole career.

I say, send Matsui back home with a ring!

Regardless, the Yankees should sign him for at least one more year, if not, the Sux just might pick him up. (And no, that’s not as far-fetched as it seems. Think about it.)

Please no more negativity. The consensuf of opinion re Cano defensively is that he is in the top three, probably second best second base across all leagus sure two errors tonight and one the other but before that I think 5 on the year. Perhaps someone can throw a stat at me for errors made .

Also I wonder where all the Anti Matsui bloggers are, those who said he is done. 4 big home runs in two games to me says he has got some petrol in the tank and a little mileage. In the best current Yankee line up he adds so much at DH and has consistently delivered over the past say 20 games. Has anyone got a stat on has any team carried say 8 hdifferwent hitters hitting 25 home runs in a season or more than 8. This team will go close.

Arigato, Matsui-san!

Yeah, Robbie was a bit flaky w/the glove today–it was funny to see Melky vigorously wave him off a fly ball in shallow CF–but let’s cut him some slack: he made up for it with a HR and turning a nice DP, so…

Let’s see the CC’s best game of the season tonight. The Yanks have got their foot on the Red Sox’s throat AL East -wise. It’s time to put them out of their misery. Ignore Jon Miller’s stupid comments tonight (Morgan will be tolerable – but just barely). I have no doubt that ESPN will focus on Saturday’s game and treat Friday’s game like it never happened. Beating Beckett at Fenway will break Boston’s spirit and they will be the Dead Sox. Go Yanks!!!!
