Jeter passes Aparicio for most hits as a shortstop

With his first-inning single and third-inning RBI double off Seattle’s Doug Fister, Derek Jeter now has 2,674 career hits as a shortstop, surpassing Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio for the most in Major League history as a shortstop.

Jeter also has 13 hits as a designated hitter.

omar vizquel has more hits but not as a shortstop because he played as a DH, 2B, and OF.

Only if 2,669 is more than 2,675.

Vizquel was at 2,669 as a shortstop entering play today. (It thought I used one of the words!)

Oh well three out of four wins = great. On to Oakland and let’s win some there. Thanks to Texas they did not lose any ground to the soxes. Texas now leads the wild card in the AL.

5 doubles ?? Is it our outfielders Or are they just finding the gaps?? I guess we can’t complain 3 out of 4 is not bad.. I don’t expect us to score 7 runs to win this one, With only 2 innings to do it.

Great going Jete, Now we need some runs. Joba doesn’t seem to get it, Walking batters is trouble. He didn’t have his good stuff, only 2 Ks. I’m on Gameday so I don’t really can’t know exactly whats going on. He still, after a 6 or 8 pitch 1st manages to pitch himself right out of the game. Too many pitches. Unless we score he is the loser.. GO YANKEES!!

Congrats to the Captain. Adding to the many reasons why DJ will be a 1st ballot Hall of Famer someday.
