well guys and gals, I agree with all what you are saying IF,IF
AROD was producing and he is not, its that simple. this is not a simple slump, he has been at it all season. move him for Mitsui, cano, Posada. all are bigger threts than he is currently. her chokes with baser runners, end of story.

To squelch the argument of moving A-Rod down, I offer comparison to Ryan Howard of the World Series Champion and current NL East leaders, the Phillies. I won’t post the stats now, but I’ll do it tomorrow for those interested. The four slot should be your biggest power threat. Some may argue for Matsui or Teixeira, but A-Rod’s the guy for me!!!

Did I read correctly that Robbie “I never met a pitch I didn’t like” Cano batting clean-up? I agree that a-ROD is not clutch but, Cano isn’t any better. He also pads his stats in meaningless situations.

One more thing. I had a large bet that Petite would be in the top 2 in pitching for the Yanks this year. His last two starts are impressive and deserved the win. I would have left him in and NOT put Coke in, which caused Petite to not claim a win. this has happened 3x to him this year.
Giradi has to allow a pitcher who is doing good in late innings to pitch to 120 pitches. i’m tired of this 100 pitch rule. Giradi has done this on 3 or 4 occasions that I can think of where the starting pitcher is doing great in 7th or 8th and he pulls them with 99 to 105 pitches. bad policy, especially with veterans like Andy.

I agree with most of your comments. But, AROD is only batting around the 250 mark. he is that much higher than some others in HR’s. He strikes out a lot and seldom comes though with men on base. look at last night what a difference it made without him in the lineup. Matsui knocked in all the base runners. How many times has AROD done that. you take out his HR, which are many solo shots and his RBI are not that impressive.
all i am suggesting is that you out a more consistent hitter in the 4 spot. Cano is also doing fairly well in the HR space, so is Damon for that matter.
i don’t see AROD as a threat to drive in runs right now. hopefully he will come out of it.take the pressure off him and put him down in 7 or 8 spot.
cano deserves to move up so he can drive in runs in tight games.

The yanks are doing great. Keep rolling that good pitching out there every night and let the chips fall were they want. The race is over. We have to get ready for the play-off and there is a chance they will play Phillies in the world series. Good Pitching, Good Defense and Timely hitting is what this team has done since the All-star game. I was doubter that pettite would hold up but he looking good. Sox might not make the play-off. Because if our was pitching the very next game that Youk the hater bats , I would throw at him.

Bob, are you sure A-Rod is not delivering? The general consensus is that he has never been as clutch w/the Yankees as he has been this season. For instance, half of his HRs have tied the game or given the team the lead after the 7th inn. I dunno…

Let me clearer samsungrob,
I did not say you move Tex down to 4. Put Cano there, then Posada, then Mitsui. Cano is a better hitter with men on base and has a higher average.
AROD is NOT delivering. they want him there for the PR hype and thats it. Pitchers would rather pitch to him than Cano with men on base

Like

Bob,

I completely disagree with you.

If you moved A-rod down, and Hideki to the 4’th spot, Tex’s numbers would be down dramatically.

Like

as i have said many times before, AROD has to moved out of the number four spot and put down in 7 or 8.
Last night at Seattle adds credibility to my plea.
AROD has hit into two double plays with bases loaded, popped out with bases loaded that I remember. He chokes often with men in scoring position this year. I think he has caused the Yanks to loose more games this year than win. AROD is great, but not this year so far. So it it were anyone else, they would have been moved. Stop the politics and PR stuff and play the game right
