7/30 – Yankees at White Sox

It’s looking like we’re about to get going here at U.S. Cellular Field following a brief rain delay. The Yankees’ roster is exactly the same as it was last night and Joe Girardi has said that he isn’t expecting a trade to happen in the next 24 hours or so. Of course, Brian Cashman pulls the trigger on such things, so it’s easier for Girardi to pretend nothing will happen.

But as of right now, there still doesn’t seem to be anything hot. Cashman has told reporters that he’s willing to go with what he’s got if the Yankees don’t run into anything that makes sense. On another note, unless we missed it, there was no tearful reunion today between Ozzie Guillen and Nick Swisher.

Just to tell you a little bit about this ballpark, a few years ago the White Sox relocated the press box from a choice location behind the plate to the upper deck in right field, turning the old press box into the Jim Beam Club. It’s all about the Benjamins, we reckon.

Walking in today at the security gate, there were two giant murals – one of Mark Buerhle celebrating his perfect game and one of Barack Obama throwing out the first pitch of the All-Star Game wearing a White Sox jacket, jeans and sneakers. There was also one of the leftover Statues of Liberty that were spread throughout New York for the Yankee Stadium farewell last July.

The 7th inning is inexcusable… Those 3 miscues more than likely cost the Yankees the game. Oh well I guess, win some lose some, but you can’t just hand out wins. Hopefully they don’t throw away anymore games in this series. I hope they go make a move for Bannister, he’d be an upgrade over Mitre, hands down. He’s 6-7 with a 3.80 ERA in 19 starts this season. Mr. Cashman, get it done!

Another sad day for baseball. There have been so many lately. Neither Ortiz or Ramirez are a suprise, but it is this slow trickling of information makes me wish someone would just pull the band-aid. That list of 104 must be released. I understand that it was meant to be confidential, but surely now it is in the best interest of all to go public. The players who doped will live in fear now as names are released one at a time for the next several seasons. The players who stayed clean have to deal with these questions wherever they go. And I am sure all fans just want to see a line drawn under this scandal.

Pay the 650 thousand for Bannister. He is a solid pitcher with a light hitting ballclub. He should be use to NYC as I believe he is an ex-Met. Like to know what his record has been vs. the Sox, Angels, white sox and any other contender has been.

Lol, I doubt highly the “nation” is smiling tonight. We got beat AND beat ourselves. Don’t go crazy over every badly played game by the Yankees or you will probably end up like that permanently. We will be fine, I mean, have a little faith ok?

Well, it sucked lol. Offense and defense. Look at the bright side: we have been winning these games a lot, and that trend should continue, and you probably wont see Tex and A-Rod go 0-8 w/ six K’s in a game too many times. Floyd pitched a great game and we were definitely off just a bit tonight. Expect a bounceback tomorrow.

Phil “Choke” once again proved the Yankees bullpen will cause them to lose the Eastern Division. “Choke” can’t even get out a .175 hitter? You have got to be kidding me….By the end of next weekend the Red Sox will be back in first.
Where are the “big time” hitter’s tonight? Tex? ARod” Matsui? They can hit the 90 MPH fastball, but looked like a bunch of girls (sorry ladies no offense meant) swinging against a 97 MPH fastball.
Red Sox Nation is smiling tonight.

The Yankees have annoyed me tonight. Lousy defence especially Arod and Cano that allowed the 2nd run. ARod strikes out 3 times with his smug look again and chewing his gum instead of kicking himself in the bum. None of the money guys are hitting tonight including Tex. Andy pitched a great game and the offence and defence has let him down. Hopefully this is not a prelude of what is to come in this series or the Yankees could find themselves behind the Sox again. The Sox won tonight. Now trouble in the 9th with two singles. Not very confident with Coke coming into the game. This could be it right here.

Over at MLBTradeRumors.com there is a report by both Jayson Stark and Buster Olney that the Yankees were talking to the Royals about Brian Bannister, but that talks never progressed because the Yankees asked the Royals to cover the $650k left on his contract for this season (he’s under team control through 2012). Seriously? I’d rather have the Yankees make a move for Bannister than Washburn, especially when you add in the difference of their salary’s (Washburn is making around $10mil. this year)… If the Yankees are really interested in Bannister, and he’s the best they’re looking at, I’d make a move for him now, and NOT Washburn.
