Ortiz has just owned up. Take that Boston blowhards!

- Rza, I feel you. But Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Jason Giambi, Derek Lowe, Trot Nixon, Mark Prior, Brian Roberts, Gary Sheffield, Kerry Wood and quite a few other non Hispanics have also been linked to PED use. It’s just that A-Rod, Manny, Sosa, and Ortiz are, arguably bigger names.
– Sean, what did you expect from an investigation led by someone with ties to the Red Sux, who cited NO ONE from that team in its report?
– Glad to know I’m not the only one who had a problem w/Joba being pulled from his last start. He was magnificent.

I don’t understand why the Yankees aren’t asking all around the league for an upgrade to their rotation. The Yankees have plenty of trade chips throughout their organization, and it’s time to use some of them in a deal (and not for someone like Bronson Arroyo either). Most likely, if you have a prospect pitching in anything under AAA, they won’t play huge factors on the MLB club for at least 2-3 seasons, AT LEAST. Why continually hold onto everyone in the system and hope they pan out how you want them to, instead of using some of your higher projected guys as trade pieces… If the Yankees can go out and use some of their chips for a SP, that either projects as a Type-A or Type-B FA, the worst they do is ship off some high profile prospects for someone that can help the big league team now, and when they leave for FA at the end of their deal (get 1 or 2 draft picks). The Yankees need to pull the trigger on a move and fast. Almost everyone they’ve been rumored to have interest in has been dealt already, and they BETTER NOT make a move for Washburn.

Hirsh will be AAA only!

What a disgrace the Mitchell report was.

Like

Well like i said in my last comment, we need pitching not hirsh, nto some wanna be, or a has been, we are in the stretch for a playoff run, boston and tampa are still breathing down our necks, it takes one bad streak and this thing is any of those 3 in the division, and the yankees have been a very very streaky club, they lose 3 or 4 and win 7 lose 5 win 9, they are streaky, we need a guy who can handle pressure situations like halliday, what r we doing with hirsh 6-7 in the minors, didnt even play this year, nice pick up cashman, if the yanks dont get a good pitcher prepare to lose to the angels, and if they beat the angels somehow, thy wont beat the dodgers in the series, starting pitching isnt deep enough, and becasue it isnt deep our bullpen will suffer, remember a guy like halliday moves pettite to long relief, with hughes, and rivera and coke, the bullpen is looking good, dump bruney, albaladejo, and mitre
and we got a winner. halliday-burnett-chamberlain-sabathia

Corey Patterson? That guy is still playing?

Bruney is absolute garbage. I think we all agree on that. Girardi is lucky the Yanks are in 1st because it has nothing to do w/ his coaching skils that’s for sure. Wouldn’t have been better to bring in Hughes instead? The Yankees need pitching depth so, they trade for some scrub from the NL that has 6 wins, 7 losses, & 6.66 ERA in AAA. WTF???

Like

WTF – the list only has hispanic players? I am a proud hispanic (Dominican) and I am not condoning what these players have done however I am very angry as to why only hispanic players are being called out! Are there no other nationalities on that list? I find that hard to believe! I mean release the god damn thing and be done with it. Why this leakage of one player at a time. What’s the big deal? It’s not a damn secret anymore!

Once Ajax is added to the 40Man roster he can’t come off. Patterson or Anderson could both be DFAd when Gardner comes back. The Yanks will need every spare 40Man spot when Rule 5 comes again in December.

Like

I agree jearl, I’d much rather see Austin Jackson called up then going after Corey Patterson… If the Yankees aren’t going to go after a big fish before the trading deadline, they most certainly should stop going after the worst available players…

Like

what’s this about the yankees going after correy paterson to fill in until Gardner gets back? he sucks! the only thing he can do is steal bases. but you can’t steal first base there correy. why not bring up ajax and give him a shot? i know it’s not permanent, but let’s see what he can do. I think he’d add another good spark to the team

So I can now finally tell everyone “I told u so!”, when it comes to David Ortiz. For the past 3 years now I’ve been telling everyone that he used PED’s, and everyone said no way. It wasn’t a bad assumption to make, seeing as he was a gap to gap, doubles hitter (at most) with the Twins, only to come to Boston and blow up into one of the premier power hitters in the game… It’s not rocket science people, it was OBVIOUS. Now look at how his body has been deteriorating over the past 2-3 seasons..

you got that right!

ESPN News 07/30/09:
“Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, lawyers with knowledge of the results told The New York Times.

The two were key members of the Boston Red Sox World Series teams in 2004 and 2007.”

I guess we just found out why Ortiz was terrible in Minnesota and all of a sudden got some muscle when he showed up in Boston. I must say, I wasn’t too suprised.

Please have someone tell Joe Gerardi to send Brian Bruney back to the minors. He is not read by no means. I’m sure that POsada will agree with me. CQ

please tell Joe Gerardi to send Brian Bruney back to the minors. He has proven time and again that he is not ready yet.

Like

Excellent game, only problem was Bruney’s performance or lack of one. What is with this guy? No movement on his pitches at all. 3.5 games up on the sox. I look for them to make a trade, still think the Yankees NEED a 5th starter.

Yeah good point! If a pitcher goes that far and is not in danger of injury, he needs to go for complete shutout win which is a lost art!

Like

okay coaching staff. you NEVER take out a pitcher who is shutting out the other team. you left the door open when you put bruney in. NO WAY do you do this. joba would of just kept cruising and ended the 9th w/ no probs. instead, you have to bring in MO due to bruney’s screw ups. nice win but damn, don’t pull your starter when he is in cruise control. you show no faith that he can finish the game while performing extremely well. forget the pitch count, etc. let him finish it!
