Rainbow over Yankee Stadium

It was a dark and stormy night…in New York when I wrote this blog post.

But earlier today, I snapped this with my iPhone as we in the press box hammered out our game stories following the Yankees’ 7-5 victory. There’s some parallel to be made between the rainbow rising over Yankee Stadium and the Bombers’ 9-1 homestand.

I’m sure you’ll find it.

As I’ve stated before, I’m no Cashman fan. But to compare him to Beane is ludicrous. Once again, the Yankees are a first place contender; Beane’s team has a slightly better record than the Nats. The A’s are a AAA team ’cause they play like one.

Ha! HA! Got some of your own medicine and you don’t like it, do you Matt!!! And you think Sabean is so great too. He of the Zito contract! You were the one who guaranteed Sabathia would sign with a California team if not from your own SF Bay area!!! Hilarious!!!

Mattys,

First of all, ROFLMAO!!!!!! I gotta’ ask, what the hell has Cashman won recently? I agree he has this team going in the wrong direction. Beane is far superior as a GM than Crashman. Beane has all konds of limitations on him, while Cashman can spend millions and yet all his team can do is finish the year with the same results as the A’s, nothing. At least Beane has an excuse while there is no excuse for Cashman, who spends millons on FA’s. Absolutely inexcusable, and pathetic. Anyone who thinks Cashman has done a good job with this team has really lost it!!

Hindsight is 20/20 as the old saying goes, Matty. You can minimize the talents/contributions/health of Swisher, Harden, Kotsay, Halliday, etc but the players they got in exchange, for the most part, don’t even rise to mediocrity. And if his track record is any indication, Beane will be trading Gonzalez and Sweeney soon enough. It’s AAA team right now. (At least the Mets have injuries to blame.)

WOW! Talk about your butt kissers! Bet the other big wet one you planted on Beane’s other cheek a few days ago isn’t even dry yet, Matt!!! “Beane is building for the future” sure…… for something like the last ten years!!! Success? Has he ever won anything at all?

LOL my response to mattys’ post is somehow posted before his. Anyways, Snell would be an upgrade over Mitre, Meche would be an upgrade over Snell, but are the Royals even considering dealing Meche? Bedard is on the DL so scratch him, I wouldn’t go after Washburn with the Red Sox’s prospects. I think the Yankees have what it would take to get Halladay, but they won’t (and shouldn’t) pull the trigger on that deal.

Agreed totally. Mr. Cashman needs to do something and fast. The rotation definitely needs a new addition, as well as the OF. The utility IF spot needs to be upgraded as well, Ransom just shouldn’t be on this roster. Girardi is falling into the Torre trap, only pitching the same relievers over and over and over (a la Scott Proctor). There’s no need for Mark Melancon to sit in the bullpen and get ZERO work in 17 days… That’s terrible management of your bullpen Joe, if you’re not going to use him let him go back to AAA to get REGULAR WORK. I’m not sure how much of a boost Marte will give this bullpen when he ever comes back, but they need a new arm in that ‘pen.

With Gardner on the DL with a broken thumb for at least a month here, isn’t it time to make a move for an OF? The OF for the Yankees wasn’t that great to begin with, and with Gardner out it’s looking even worse. Swisher, Hinske and even Cabrera are #4 OFers at best, the Yankees need to make a move for an OF soon. They also need to make a move for a SP, because I seriously doubt Mitre is going to get the job done. I think Snell would be an upgrade over Mitre by far, if the Yankees can get him fairly cheap then they should go for it. Why is Melancon still up with the big club? He hasn’t pitched since July 10… Girardi, if you’re not going to use this guy, send him back down to AAA so he gets regular work.
