Rodriguez 3B
Swisher RF
Cano 2B
Cabrera CF

Molina C

Pitching: Joba Chamberlain (4-2, 4.04)

ANGELS (46-37)
Figgins 3B
Izturis 2B
Abreu RF
Rivera LF
Morales 1B
Napoli DH
Matthews CF
Mathis C
Aybar SS

Pitching: Joe Saunders (8-5, 4.44)

FROM THE CLUBHOUSE

Mark Melancon is here, Jonathan Albaladejo is out, and Melancon could be used for up to 45 pitches. Rough travel for Albaladejo, flying from Minneapolis to Southern California only to be shipped back to Scranton …  Derek Jeter is DHing after playing 10 straight days in the field. The Yankees had considered doing this in Minnesota but there’s no time like the present … Jose Molina is catching because of the day-night mix and the fact that Jorge Posada played two games on the Metrodome turf. Posada will catch Andy Pettitte Saturday … The Yankees have their fingers crossed that Joba Chamberlain can somehow figure out how to be more aggressive … The Yankees are 9-2 in July and 13-2 in their last 15 games against a left-handed starter.

When is everyone going to get off the JOBA bandwagon? Yes, He will probably become a great pitcher someday but Today he needs to grow up. His head got too big, Listening to everyone saying how good he is. He has to learn at his young age that his catcher has more wisdom on how to pitch to batters. He still shakes off too many pitches, many more than most of the other starters. Maybe he is better suited for the BP. He throws too many pitches to be a good starter, He just is not able to get deep into the game, needs to get at least 7 innings in.
Matt, “You guys have short memories” It wasn’t just the home grown talent, The players were hungry, played hard and worked together taking advantage of opportunities when they were there. Torre was able to light their fire to keep them seeking the end of the rainbow “World Series” They were focused on that goal. Today these overpaid laid back (Arod) players just don’t have the same desire..
While we coddle our youngsters, and tell them how good they are Lester (SOX) has proven to be a far superior pitcher than
our guys. Some day they may be better but right now there’s no comparison..
Chaz, If you’re still out there, lets hear from you. I always thought you could manage this club better than Joe…

Another Stellar Cy-Young performance by Joba the Experiement last night Yup the Boston Fans are PROUD!!
BACK TO THE PEN with him I say!!

A few things Cashman and Girardi must take into consideration:

1) A starting pitcher is badly needed. If they are committed -as they lie to say say- to the “Joba-as-a-starter” experiment (which keeps bringing awful consequences, and not only for the bullpen) they have to recognize that with Wang out of the picture, the Yanks right now only have Sabathia-Burnett, then the “cross-your-fingers-2009″ version of Pettitte, and the bullpen burner Chamberlain. THAT IS NOT ENOUGH…

So far, the only thing one hears is that they will bring Sergio Mitre from Scranton…

2) Leave Aceves where he belongs. The guy has been effective as long reliever, Girardi, please, do not use him as a guinea pig…(like you have done with almost the whole bullpen…

3) Can anybody explain to me why did they bring Hinske? just to sit and watch how Ransom -a Girardi “über- favorite”- keeps showing he does not belong in pinstripes? That is a true mystery…

4) A solution must be found -and quickly- to the set up position. Bruney, once more, last night proved he has issues to address…Girardi -if he is true to himself- will keep in denial, saying the guy only needs innings…What about he tries to find his “peace of mind” and his control in Scranton, not hurting the MLB team?

5) That the team has been winning recently does not hide the fact that the Yankees have one of the weakest outfields in MLB. A veteran past his prime (Damon), and with defensive issues, and then three good benchers -not more than that- (Cabrera, Gardner and Swisher) for the two other positions. Last night Swisher offered another one of his coreographic performances on the rightfield…I accepted the logic behind the Cabrera/Gardner combo for center, but then it was supposed that Nady (another one out of the picture) would play rightfield…Abreu, last night, took pride in showing why DL are not letters belonging in his resumé…A healthy, steady guy, who would have contributed his usual 90-100 RBIs, lots of BBs and 20-30 steals (already got 20)…And the Angels got him for peanuts…(compare his salary with Damon´s, Matsui´s or even Nady´s!)

Guys, if you notice, all of these current problems WERE MENTIONED HERE, IN THIS BLOG, DURING SPRING TRAINING. WARNING FLAGS WERE SHOWN. What keeps bothering me is how Cashman and Girardi keep pushing everybody´s patience….

Put Joba in the pen. I’m tried of hearing he is going to be the next Noal Ryan. Yes go get Halladay! Winning takes care of everything. Keep Joba and Hughes! Trade Johnny Damon, Jackson somebodya and go get Halladay!

this bullpen trouble has all to do with aceves starting yesterday .ingenious idea to break bullpen rythmn by starting the only guy who goes more than 1 inning if they bring up mitre ace goes tonight in the fourth. now bullpen can be screwed till next week.nice moves by joe and the front office

I wonder if the Jays would take Joba, Hughes & Jackson for Halladay? Just a thought.

Another 4.1 inning performance by this guy. Great way to burn up your bullpen Chamberlain. Again I say I am NOT convinced that this guy has a “Starters” ability. My only question is when the *ell does this Joba is a starter experiment end and he’s put where he belongs, THE PEN!!!

Gotta tell you folks once again Joba cannot maintain the lead. Staked to a 5-1 lead and he gives up the long ball in the 5th. Until this guy can show maturity on the mound and gets his act together I am still convinced he is NOT a starter. He wastes far too many pitches for my taste and continues to NIBBLE, NIBBLE, NIBBLE. A sure sign of someone who does not trust his stuff. I’d rather Hughes as a starter.

Joba is as fragile as tissue paper. This guy has all the toughness as a wet paper bag. Let’s have a big fist pump Joba! Thanks for giving up 4 runs this inning, chump!

Rodriguez kills me. He’s so annoying. Strikes out swinging at a low and away third strike with men on base. He drives me crazy with that big wad of bubble gum he chews and his stupid look after he strikes out or grounds into a double play or whatever. He has that “I don’t really care” attitude. I wish he’d choke on his bubble gum. I guess you expect it from a Ransom but this guy we’re paying millions of dollars and he is not good at consistently getting men home who are on base. I feel more comfortable with a Johnny Damon up to bat with men on than I do ARod.
