Cablevision users: Watch Yanks online, in-market

The Yankees’ 8 p.m. game on Wednesday at Minnesota will mark the beginning of a new Internet era for fans, as the Yankees are set to debut their “Yankees on YES” live streaming product.

This marks the first live in-market streaming product in professional
sports to include games with local broadcast television deals, as Cablevision subscribers will be able to watch games live over their computers at
home or at the office, wherever they want in the YES Network territory.

I checked in with Derek Jeter on this topic recently and, even though he gets the best views of all for the Yankees’ games, the shortstop and captain seemed to think it was a good step forward and seemed interested to hear about some of the details. He certainly wasn’t surprised that the Yankees are at the forefront of new technology.

“I’m sure Yankees fans will appreciate it,” Jeter said. “You
see how they’ve always come out and supported us before this, and
everywhere we go, there are people wearing Yankees gear. Anything that
gives fans more access, it’s a positive. I think it’s great. I’m pretty
sure more teams will follow.”

For more information on the “Yankees on YES” live streaming product, you’ll want to read all about it on MLB.com by clicking here or on the “Yankees on YES” graphic at the top of this blog post.

Nady’s done for the season. TJ surgery number 2. Out until AT LEAST July 2010 if not more. FA at the end of the season. Has he seen his last game in pinstripes?

Matt, I’m not convinced Posada can remain healthy throughout the season. And if/when he goes down and takes his mighty bat w/him do you really want Molina’s Manhattan area code or Cervelli’s decent .250-.275? (Lest we forget, a 23 yr old C w/awesome defense, nice speed, and a decent bat would be a starter in almost any major league club.) Posada is irreplaceable, but Cervelli has shown that he is the better man for the job of backing Jorge up.

Here’s a question no one has asked…… There is a lot of talk about Joba’s pitching style, the fact that he nibbles, he’s not throwing enough fastballs, etc….. Have you ever watched a game when he’s on the mound? Almost every batter, he’s shaking off 1, 2, 3 or more signs from the catcher!! Who else in baseball is doing that? Why does Eiland let him call off what Jorge is putting down there? Must is made of him being only 23, learning his way, first full season as a starter, etc…. Heck, even the most season vets don’t shake off as many signs as he does…..

So not only was Cervelli NOT sent down but he DID make the trip and DID contribute. I’m sorry but he’s nearly the defensive catcher Molina is with a MUCH better bat. He’s developed a good rapport with the staff, he plays with intensity and fire and has healthy strong fast legs – a catcher stealing bases?? He can bat .270 all season as far as I’m concerned.

A source indicated over a dozen teams have asked about Halladay. “Serious” interest: NYY, NYM, STL, MIL, LAD, LAA, BOS

Yeah, Ricciardi’s testing the waters.

One thing, though: “Obviously if people have interest in Roy Halladay, they’d better realize there’s a steep price that’s going to come with it” is the baseball equivalent of SERIOUS BIDS ONLY on eBay. Ricciardi wants blood. And if it’s a division rival that’s interested, he wants firstborns, too.

My question is, would he accept a couple of prospects and…a BOATLOAD of money? Oh, Yanks and Sux have already started salivating. Then again, is Halladay a game or two away from regaining his form, or has he gone from stellar ace to good pitcher? What do you guys think?

“Ricciardi open to offers for Halladay”. I hope Cashman is getting a boner over this article.
