Yankees disable Wang; A-Rod out of lineup

Alex Rodriguez is not in the Yankees lineup today as the club takes optional batting practice here on the field at Yankee Stadium. Joe Girardi said that “it just seemed like a good day not to have him play.” And, in a weather sense, it is a good day — about 75, sunny and perfect in New York. Nice to see we seem to have shrugged off all that Seattle weather.

Chien-Ming Wang has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and Jonathan Albaladejo is here from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to lend a hand in the bullpen.

Cano. Followed by Swisher? What kind of management is this?

Cano can NOT hit a ball out of the infield with runners on and Swisher isn’t any better. These two don’t contribute enough consistently to even BE Yankees. Sit their butts down and let Gardner and anyone else play instead.

Bad Management. Period.

Was at the Stadium today; no Mo, no A-Rod. Darn. I’ll take the win, tho. People all around me were asking two respective questions:
“Why Ransom and not Hinske, if A-Rod’s got the day off?” “Albaladejo? Really?” Fortunately, the latter got the job done. Ransom, however…

Brian,
Alfredo Aceves pitched four innings in their win over the Blue Jays today. Is this a sign that he as opposed to Phil Hughes is being stretched out to fill the hole in the rotation left by Wang?

BRYAN: Why isn’t Hinske getting a chance to play? Is he Hurt? Did Joe not want him? Why Play Ransom and keep him on the bench? Just what is going on? Has anyone asked?
I certainly hope that there is nothing serious with Wang, It appears he could be great trade bait..
We need this win, Boston has already won their game…YES, A good comeback WIN!!!

Swish fumbles around in the outfield and Rios stretches double into a triple. Swish is a rather mediocre outfielder. But who else do the Yankees have? Again Hinske can play the outfield. What’s going on? Why isn’t Girardi playing him? Is he injured? Did they not want him to start against his old team? Something screwy here.

Three comments:

1. Why is Hinske not playing 3rd base? He’s dependable defensively and he’s got pop in his bat. Why pick up a guy and not play him? What’s going on?Ransom is not ready as a starter 3rd baseman. Ransom’s error meant that the inning didn’t finish and the Jays go on to score 5 runs.
2. Joba;s pitch count always too high. He’s a 3 inning pitcher and so should be in the bull pen in spite of those on this blog who keep trying to say he should stay in the starting rotation. Hughes should start. Now that Wang is on the DL it’s more of a problem but when Wang comes back I think Hughes should start and put Joba in the bull pen.
3. Cano gets thrown out stealing. He can’t to get it done at the plate or on the bases. Someone needs to work with him to get him going. He’s making too many mistakes.
Why have they brought Alba back from the minors? he was useless before he went down. Is that the best they have to bring up?

Again, poor management of the pitching staff, Leaving Joba in too long. It was obvious he wasn’t hitting his spots and was tiring. I notice where Cano grounded to 2nd again with runners on base. next at bat no one on, he singles. Glad to see him moved from the 5th spot. Why didn’t Joe use Hinske at 3rd instead of Ransom??

There was a rumor about the Phillies having some interest, but obviously that’s all off now that he’s injured.
