6/26 – Yankees at Mets
Sabathia LHP (6-4, 3.71)
Pelfrey RHP (5-2, 4.74)
FROM THE CLUBHOUSE
The Yankees had to hold their breath and hope the phone didn’t ring during CC Sabathia’s bullpen session, but all appears to have gone well as he is on the mound for the bottom of the first inning at Citi Field … Robinson Cano’s sore left wrist is better and he is back in the lineup … Melky Cabrera and Hideki Matsui (flu) are improving, but Derek Jeter was scratched with what Girardi called a “substantial cough” … Jeter turns 35 today and had a birthday cake waiting at his locker. … Jorge Posada gets the night off after catching a long nine-inning game in 90 degree Atlanta heat last night.
