Fans have a right to complain but they should also cheer about the wins and how good they are when they are doing well, you can’t have one without the other. Mark my words, there will be a HOLIDAY in Boston when they sign Matt Holiday and then you’ll see who rules in the American League East, for years to come. This Yankee team is lifeless, how could you not sweep the worst team in Baseball? No guts, no creativity, no MANAGEMENT, it’s all about MONEY, save your money for that $10 hot dog. This team is a WET DREAM, they tease us with 9 straight wins and then loose to the NATIONALS, wow! It’s no wonder that Boston fans are ridiculing us and this hurts.

Like

It is a natural reaction, by fans, to piss and moan about their team and yes when they are doing well there should be as many bloggers complimenting this team as there are “haters”. Let’s get something straight, people are entitled to complain about this because 1. The money they charge to watch this pathetic team, 2. Because we complain means that “tough love” may work, hell, maybe someone from the front office is reading these messages. and 3. I do not like complaining about this team, it hurts, but you know what I don’t care, when they loose to a last place, mediocre team IT HURTS. I’ve always said that when a bad team, in a slump comes into our house all of a sudden they start winning AGAIN! This team has no fight and I’m tired of this “WET DREAM”. One day they tease you with 9 straight wins and then they flake out and loose to the worst team. One more thing, Boston will be getting a HOLIDAY soon in the signing of Matt Holiday and mark my words, THEY WILL RULE FOR A VERY LONG TIME.

The Yanks aren’t in such bad shape overall, though I have to agree that they could do better and Girardi’s not making good line-up decisions.

One prob I haven’t seen mentioned is most of the team doesn’t hit RHPs well. The Red Sox know this and exploit it constantly.

But at this point, it sure seems Jeter (their RISP leader) should be hitting third and Cano and Tex should be clean-up and 5th (interchangeably). Jeter, Cano and Tex have been the steadiest hitters for weeks. It’s time to move A-Rod back to 6th spot till he’s back on track.

Gardner, Melky should bat 1-2. That’d leave Posada, Matsui and Swisher in the bottom third of the order.

Other than that, bring Hughes back to the starting line-up as he was finally fulfilling his promise. Put Joba in the pen to complement Bruney as the two long relievers, till he recovers from his latest bout of wildness. And Wang? Sorry Charlie but his great past ain’t enough to warrant so much time before he goes back to the pen. He was doing well there, so why mess with what was working?

That leaves Sabathia, Burnett, Andy and Phil as the four solid starters. Which means a July buy of a fifth starter is required. There’s several relievers, plus Wang, and Matsui and Cash (the recent catcher) who could fit a bundle to make such a trade happen.

A-Rod will come around, but it might be another month and carrying him plus Wang is no way to remain competitive in baseball’s toughest division. Assuming no AL team would trade anyone good, perhaps Cueto/CIN, Vazquez/ATL, Zimmerman/WAS or some similar B+ pitcher could be had, as anyone that can win 60% of their starts is all that’s missing beyond A-Rod’s bat.

Like

I’m not sure what pisses me off more, the Stanks losing a series to the worst team in baseball or MLBExtra Innings NOT carrying the game for the second consecutive day! Maybe because of the day?? Anyhow, we sign Pedro and i’m done for the season.

Matty S,
Maybe you’ll find the “cheerleaders” in the same place the constant whiners and complainers go to when the Yankees are on a roll and doing well, and these professional naysayers are nowhere to be found.
I think it’s pretty insulting and pompous to consider those who don’t incessantly bitch any less knowledgeable about baseball. Have you noticed how barren the comments section is on this blog when the Yankees do the right thing? Yet, when they screw up, it’s overflowing in vitriol and hate. How about some balance? This is your team for Pete’s sake!

Valentine’s contract is up in Japan, ,, MAYBE JUST MAYBE,,,HOPEFULLY he will become the NEW MANAGER!!!!

GIRARDI has to go, this team is NOT performing for him or the Friggin coaches,

CHANGE IS NEEDED NOW!!!

UNTIL IT’S TOO LATE LIKE LAST YEAR!!!

Let’s be thankful however that Cashman got Tex and he didn’t go to Boston or else Boston wouldn’t even be within reach right now despite Tex’s poor start, he turned it around and carried this team for a while, let’s be thankful he is not carrying Boston

seeknay, im not making excuses for cashman, what i was trying to say was in the offseason, Veras could have netted us a decent prospect in a trade, and we could have signed someone else for the bullpen or something, now Veras is gone for nothing and we didnt do anything to improve the pen……..I was trying to point out the poor job of evaluating the current roster, maybe someone wanted Edwar too before he was demoted. He could have been a nice pick up for a national league team….

Like

levelboss if that’s the case then the manager has lost this team. Wonder when the NY/NJ media is going to start questioning Girardi in detail and criticizing the team.

There were plenty of free agents available otoole. This GM is clueless when it comes to putting a team together. Middle relief has NEVER been addressed well by Crashman. Nor has the question of role players/bench. You have to have both to contend. I don’t believe Crashman has EVER played this game and has absolute NO idea how to get it done. And they rewarded this IDIOT with a 3 year contract extension, WOW.

Letting Torre go was not a mistake it was his time! BUT HIRING GIRARDI WAS A HUGE MISTAKE! Learning on the Job is fine for Washington BUT NOT THE YANKEES!!

I can’t see Girardi lasting the season at this rate. HeLL I thought he’d be gone B4 Memorial Day. This team is just NOT giving 100% for him. Can’t believe that I’m starting to think that letting Torre go and hiring Girardi was a HUGE mistake.

Anyone think Veras could have gotten us anything decent in the off-season? He had a decent year last year….looks like we held on to him way too long.

I had my choice this week to see this Friggin OVER RATED ball club or the METS Guess who I am going to see?!?!?!?
Actually I want to see Citi Field!!! Not the Mets!

Like

But I still believe Joba is a starter. Three plus pitches and an improving changeup should not be wasted in a bullpen where he would only use two pitches. He just needs to stop being so stubborn on the mound…. once he figures out how to be more economical he will be a dominant pitcher, he is 23 years old….he’s going to be fine.

I have been a die hard Yankee fan for almost 40 years and this has to be one of the most pathetic excuses for a Yankee TEAM that I have seen. No fire, no consistant pitching, no clutch hitting. No consistancy in the lineup thanks to the lackluster manager. We need a manger who can light the fire under the butts of these overpaid prima donnas. $200 million to lose to the Nats at home. Pathetic.
Girardi, Cashman, Eiland must go!

Like

You miss my point mattys I am not concerned about 100 pitches, it’s the 40 that were balls. This kid is nibbling and NOT throwing his best stuff. Chamberlain is not improving as far as I am concerned. Still can’t figure out what Eiland does to earn his $$$. Can’t believe that Kay actually said something, he is usual a company man. Tell me Clueless Joe what is going to be your excuse tonight? You just lost 2 of 3 at home to the team with the WORSE record in baseball. What’s the excuse, Joe?

By Gordon Edes—Yanoo Sports

Pedro Martinez(notes) once famously referred to the New York Yankees as “my daddy” after losing a game to them, prompting 50,000 fans in Yankee Stadium to mock him with a “Who’s your daddy?” chant during a subsequent appearance in the 2004 postseason. Martinez ranks as one of the top villains in Yankee lore – having sent Derek Jeter(notes) and Alfonso Soriano(notes) to the hospital in the same game after he hit them with pitches and tossing Joe Torre’s beloved bench coach, Don Zimmer, to the ground during a brawl.

Yet Yankees fans soon could be cheering Martinez as one of their own, according to a source close to the 37-year-old right-hander. The source said the Yankees are one of four teams planning to watch the three-time Cy Young Award winner throw in the Dominican Republic on Friday.

You know they are lucky they weren’t in position to be swept in this series.

This guy has thrown 62 pitches in 6 innings of work. Not that’s what I call REAL patience at the plate. Great job coaching staff, great job. If Jeter can walk get him the HeLL in the game.

Seeknay, Those are also my thoughts, George would never put up with this. He would jump all over Arod and the rest of these overpaid primadonas.
Joba appears to be in trouble every inning. The Nats are able to take advantage of their base runners. We can’t hit, our pitching is only so-so.
JOE, has to take the complete blame, He needs to start managing now, Though It may already be too late for him. when he goes he has to take Eiland, Long and Thompson with him. No, to Mattingly as Mgr. he’s not ready. As for Cervelli, He doing an adequate job, he’s not a HR hitter but he’ still batting .290, which is not too bad. He also handles the pitchers well. What more can you expect from a guy that hasn’t even played AAA ball.

Welcome Todd to the blog. Yup they friggin suck again tonite! If Nady is not coming back it is time to look toward the trade deadline folks.

Like

You are right mattys but in addition the sox always sign better free agents and frankly are better coached in both the minor and major leagues. Thus my point before, this team NEEDS an enema start by firing the GM and also fire the loafers in the minors.

Like

Well I see we are playing ANOTHER GOOD GAME!!! HE HE
OK JOBA TO THE PEN, He loses his velocity after 4 innings and just throws to throw!!! Joba is built for 2 to 3 innings tho Throe HARD like he previously did!!
This is just plain stupitity to keep this crazy experiement going.
I am NOW hearing more people in baseball starting to agree about Joba in the pen, This is the right move.

Agsin another Cy Young pitching against us,,,, WOW this line up is FILLED with OVERRATED players,

IF THE YANKS LOSE TONIGHT I WOULD FIRE GIRARDI, Eiland, and the FRIGGN WASTE OF FRIGGIN SPERM HITTING COACH!!!!

5 Innings and 2 FRIGGIN HITS!!!

WAY TO GO YOUR FRIGGIN MOORONS!!!!

it scares no one mattys because it’s bench players are BAD. Crashman is CLUELESS in how to put a team together. When th HeLL will H & H figure that out?

Like

Ok let’s play who is the better GM. The sox have **** go down and Nick Green (ex-Yankee) is the replacement. Look at his stats. The Yankees have Jeter go down and look at his replacement, Pena. Now tell me folks who has put together a better bench? Theo or the IDIOT Crashman?

Like

3-0 great job Chamberlain. Let’s see 7 hits, 4 walks in less than 5 innings of work. PUT his *** in the bullpen and leave it there. I remain unconvinced that this guy is a starter. What the hell they ought to sign Pedro and throw his *** in the starting rotation. ANYTHING is better than what this team has gotten the last 2 nights against the friggin Nationals.

Like

It’s not a championship team because it is lead by a manager who shows NO passion at all to win. When the Hell is this guy going to stop making excuses and start pointing the finger at his players who continue to do nothing but earn a paycheck. No matter what this franchise does it continues to struggle. I have said it over and over again, this franchise needs an ENEMA from the GM to those BUMS in the minor leagues that have developed ZERO. Fire them all!

Like

This is not a championship team. Actually, the Yankees don’t have a championship team. They haven’t had one since 2000.

WOW!! and i wonder why teams dont bring up pitchers the Stanks “havent seen before” more often!!! they would have a worse record than the Nats at this point if the did!!! P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C

3 damn walks in the top of the 4th inning? Does Eiland do ANYTHING to earn his paycheck? What a joke! Cannot believe H & H don’t say a damn thing about this crap. They must take after their mom. I long for the days of King George, he would be chewing this crap out daily.

why are the Yankees swinging on the first pitch? they’re getting out on 1-3 pitches each!

Are we facing Cy Young Again, Where do all these ringers come from??? 3 innings, only 1 hit….. Not good!!

Like

Why is it we don’t take advantage of having a runner in scoring position, But even the lowly Nats can get that run home.. Is it that we are too MACHO and think we have to hit it out of the park instead of moving that runner. It appears that each has do his own thing. Playing small ball it appears is a dirty word. Let’s play ball, we’re 3 games behind the Sox, Yanks need to be more focused.

m francesa is saying to put Joba in the pen come the trade deadline and just trade for a decent (not a star, but decent) starter. I would package any of the following: Marte, Kennedy, Shelly, Albaladejo, RObertson and anyone without an immediate major league future and hope for the best.

Like

Garner and Pena may be weak bats but Cervelli’s offense has been good for a catcher…sure he won’t be able to keep it up but not every team has a Joe Mauer behind the plate…Look at the Dodgers, Russel Martin is batting something like .235 with no HRs. I don’t see how anyone can complain about Cervelli’s output.

They will play this game at all costs. They have no common off days. That would mean that the Nats would have to play a game at the Mets and then come cross town for us, OR when we play the O’s, we’d have a double header and go cross to DC after the O’s game is over. Trust me. No rainout today.
