6/11 – Yankees at Red Sox
CC Sabathia (5-3, 3.56)
RED SOX (35-24)
Brad Penny (5-2, 5.85)
FROM THE CLUBHOUSE
If you can believe this, CC Sabathia prepared for tonight’s start by watching Baby Mama. Kind of makes playing RBI Baseball against Brian Bruney look like heavy-duty studying. … Brian Bruney was hoping the Yankees would just activate him, trot him out to the mound and forget about all that messy rehab stuff. Sorry, Brian. Bruney will pitch on Saturday at Double-A Trenton. … Tony Pena had a scuff under his right eye from batting practice yesterday, when someone hit a liner off the L screen that clipped Pena while he was tossing. There were oohs and ahhs from the crowd but Pena shrugged it off and kept throwing. “I was a catcher,” he said. “You keep going. It’s a mentality.” … Sounds like A.J. Burnett’s appeal could be heard on June 16 in New York.
