I can’t believe Cashman is thinking about sending Cervelli down to triple A. Posada is such a bad catcher that it makes me mad. I don’t want him on the team anymore.

Havent’ posted in a while. But I wanted to address the “dilemma” that Girardi is facing with Wang returning to the team.

If I was in Girardi’s shoes, I would set up the six pitchers I have in a little competition among themselves.

Here’s how it would work:

For now, keep Wang in the bullpen as a long man. However, inform the other 5 guys that Wang gets thier spot in the rotation if they pitch a bad game. For example, if Burnett has a rough outing, Wang gets the start in Burnett’s next turn in the rotation, while Burnett moves into the bullpen. If all 5 guys pitch well, Burnett stays in the bullpen until somebody screws up.

I think the guys knowing that they have to be at their best to keep their job because there is a perfectly capable pitcher itching to yank their starting spot on the bump away from them would be a handy motivator.

John,
Welcome back! We all missed you and asked about you several times!!!

I do n’t see why not go to a 6 man rotation (with cc going every 5th day) the yankee starters only go 6 or 100 pitches.

Chaz

Has your absence muddled you just a little. Pay players 160M + and 80M+ to sit in the bull pen. Somehow I don’t think so. On the surface yes it would create healthy competition but it would never occur , nor would a 6 man rotation. The starting lineup as is will be fine. Yes all have been shaky at times but none more so than Wang with due respect. It is going to take more than an innings here and there to throw him back into the lineup as a starter at the moment. His last two starts were like batting practice similiar to Igawa last year. His last effort was an improvement but his speed was still down at 90-91. At that speed if he pitches up hw will again be hit. He is in his rightful spot at the moment at least for a while. If he stays healthy mentally and physically he will be a big bonus in the pen and could be the set up guy that is really needed in the bull pen or even in long relief. Hughes I believe is only going to get better from here on as will Joba.

All the same it is pleasing to see you return to the blog, hope you can scare off some of the morons who have appeared under various names. Your insight has been missed, certainly from my end back here in Australia.

Aussie Bryan
