Yankees shuffle injury-riddled roster

Got all this?

4/24 - Placed RHP Chien-Ming Wang on the 15-day disabled list with weakness in his hip abductor muscles; placed IF Cody Ransom on the 60-day disabled list with a strained right quadriceps muscle, recalled RHP David Robertson from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

4/25 –
Placed RHP Brian Bruney on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right flexor mass; purchased the contract of IF Angel Berroa from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and added him to the Major League roster, purchased the contract of RHP Mark Melancon from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and added him to the Major League roster.

For roster purposes, Berroa is wearing #14, Melancon #39 and Robertson reclaims #30.

Now, what does it all mean? Bruney will be sidelined for about a week without throwing, though he’ll re-join the team today in Boston and keep traveling. He’s about two to three weeks from pitching in big league games again.

Melancon will join the team at about 5:30 today and though Joe Girardi said he didn’t want to use him in late-inning situations right away, you never know. Berroa becomes the Yankees’ everyday third baseman until Alex Rodriguez returns.

“Injury riddled” because someone(s) is not doing a good job of making sure no injuries occur (the ones where good training techniques assure a healthy player, not the accidents like slamming into a wall or being HBP) to the players.

I mean, really. take Wang. What bonheads wouldn’t KNOW about the strength in the legs after nearly a year of not pitching. Big DUH. I could have told them that after watching him pitch the first time.

Boy, people are overpaid. Isn’t Joe G. paying attention??

I have been a die hard Yankee fan for 50 years and I have seen enough of Joe Girardi. I felt half way through last season it was not the man for the job.

He is destroying the pitching staff. He didnt know how to handle them last year and he is doing an even worst job this season.

We are 3 weeks into the season and we have 2 pitches on the disabled list.

The Yankees will be no better than a .500 team this season the way he is handling and wrecking the pitching staff.

It’s time to dump him before it is too late.

Wang and Bruney this season already .. last year his managerial skills ruined the arm of Wang, Hughes, Kennedy and several others.

Steinbrenners had a great manager in Torre .. but they took the cheap way out .. mismanagement of their behalf.

Sweet Lou Pinella is the man he is one of the 3 best in the game today.

Let’s make the change now or write this season as a lost.

Bryan,
What is the official Sanchez move?

Looks like Jackson stays, but for how long? Next on the bubble for the 40man may be Christian Garcia who last I heard is still rehabing and has been injury prone!

damn…..60 days…… all that to steal a base. I didn’t like Sanchez. He was worthless for the Yanks. Also: the Gary Sheffield trade hasn’t really worked in Detroit as they released him.

A bit too soon for Melancon perhaps, but needs must. Hopefully we can open up a bit of a lead, chuck him out there and see what happens…
