Yankees pause for Adenhart

All activity in the Yankees clubhouse stopped this morning as SportsCenter broke in with a report that Angels rookie Nick Adenhart had been killed in an automobile accident in California, just hours after throwing six innings of scoreless ball against the A’s.

Someone told Nick Swisher to turn off his music machine and the Yankees huddled around a television with reporters, watching the coverage. When it was announced that Adenhart had been killed in a hit-and-run accident, one Yankee cursed.

Joe Girardi shed a tear when asked about Adenhart during his pre-game press conference.

“It’s sad. It really is. You think of a young man who realizes his dream and pitches six shutout innings, and drives home and is gone. Life is not supposed to be like that. I didn’t even know the kid and it’s hard for me. He’s just a little boy who dreamed about playing in the big leagues.

“It’s one big fraternity, one big family. Your heart goes out to that family and that young man. You realize how precious life is. You wake up every day and be thankful for what you’ve got, because you never know.”

Its such a sad day for anyone who saw this kid pitch, or heard about this story. Its a lesson for everyone, if you go out and drink. Don’t Drive! Don”t Be SELFISH! Think of others. My prayers are with Nick and his family and Friends.

What a shame.
A great guy with a bright future.
Get drunks off the road.
The idiot who did this needs to be locked up for life.
RIP Nick!

My prayers go out to Nick’s family, to those he cared about and to those who cared for him. May God watch over and protect them always. Although it is a moot point, it should be mentioned in response to a posting above; the accident occurred in Southern CA, only about 15 minutes up the road from the Stadium, not in the Bay Area. Thanks.

My prayers to Nick’s family and the entire Angels’ organization. The person who caused it? I’m not sure there is a punishment to fit the crime.

My prayers go to Nick’s family, team, and friends. No one should have to die like that. It shouldn’t have happened. The Fullerton PD made an arrest today so thats good.

oh dear, the Orioles pitcher should hang his head in shame after that error

Again it seems every time the Yankees score, they relax defensively and allow a run right back. It happened on a monotonous regularity last year and again this year, still they have maintained the lead.

So so very sad and further evidence that God promises no one tomorrow.

Almost believe this entry should remain blog free but there is a game on.

0-1 down and Texeira hits first home run and then Santa ( Nick Swisher ) hits a two run shot, now 3-1 Yankees. Hopefully Burnett will now up the ante and push on to his first win !!!!!!!! for The Yankees

he was gone way to soon. Angels will go to the playoffs again just for him

I don’t think we should have cars anymore. We should all be driving electric bicycles.
