Yankees prepare to break camp

Happy April Fool’s Day, and more importantly, happy end of Spring Training day. We’ve got a busy morning here in Tampa as the Yankees get ready to play their final Grapefruit League game of the spring — the season, and the new Yankee Stadium, are right around the corner.

After the game today against the Phillies, the Yankees will head for the airport and fly to New York on the team charter. There is a workout at the Stadium on Thursday, exhibition games against the Cubs on Friday and Saturday, and then the real thing gets ready to go on April 6 in Baltimore.

Yesterday was a busy day at MLB.com. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let me just collect these links for you before they disappear off our front page:

Yanks’ final spring road game a winner
Melky Cabrera drove in three runs and Joba Chamberlain was solid in his final spring start in the Yankees’ 6-3 win over the Reds on Tuesday.

A-Rod ramps up his workouts
Alex Rodriguez has ramped up his rehab program as he comes back from
right hip surgery, and the Yankees continue to believe that he will
rejoin their lineup sometime in May.

Sheppard to miss Yankees openers
Joba starting doubters coming around
Albaladejo on Yanks’ Opening Day roster
Short porch to beckon at new Stadium
Jeter an ambassador for youth sports
Joba to attend DUI arraignment Wednesday

So A-Rod will miss the April series with the Red Sox?
