The Boss is No. 1

Heard this little story in the dugout today during batting practice:

one-last-time-cover.jpgLast week, Ray Negron published his latest illustrated children’s book, “One Last Time: Good-Bye to Yankee Stadium.”
Yankees principal owner George Steinbrenner and memories of Yankee Stadium are the focus of the book.

The cover depicts Steinbrenner in an illustration wearing his familiar white
turtleneck and navy blue sport coat, giving a thumbs up sign with
his hand on the shoulder of a batboy.

Well, this week, Negron bumped into Steinbrenner here at the stadium and was congratulated on the book, which hit No. 1 in its category on Amazon.com.

“You hit No. 1,” Steinbrenner told Negron. “I’m happy for you.”

“No, Boss,” Negron replied. “I couldn’t have hit No. 1 without you. You’re on the cover. I’m happy for us.”

Here’s the Amazon.com page for “One Last Time,” and you can read more about Negron’s charitable efforts at batboyhelps.com.

Thanks for the piece on Ray’s book, One Last Time: Good-Bye to Yankee Stadium.” Its a terrific book that brings back
Yankee greats to say good bye to the most revered stadium in all of sports. I encourage all your readers who
know kids who are Yankee fans to go out and buy it; they
will not be disappointed.

How Come Matt is smart enough to know that I was being sarcastic when i mentioned Andruw Jones? Oh, and why is it that if I don’t like Shelley Shelley Duncan it means that I automatically want Berroa? They both suck.

Dude, you really are as dumb as you look.

Non-Yankee fan….what a joke.

You win Bpark. I can’t come back from that. That’s right-I’m a “drunk drug abuse”. I rest my case about your pea-sized brain.

And ONLY Yankee fans get all huffy over bench spots and the bullpen.

Besides, I wasn’t arguing with you over Duncan…I was just pointing out that everything that you post here is idiotic, blatantly obvious, or just plan misinformed (yet you argue your point until the point of madness).

Again, I rest my case. Yet another meaningful contribution by my favorite ‘tard.

You sound idiotic and a non Yankees’ fan suggesting garbage like Andruw Jones, who can’t even make the Rangers roster.

Matt if they are neck and neck like you perceive, Cabrera will win based on his salary. My perception is Gardner is way out in front but Cabrera’s salary makes it much closer.

Arguing with me over the end of the bench final roster spot is stupid. Duncan is not an impact player. If your choice is Berroa, so what? Neither player will play much. Your a drunk, drug abuse, get a life, you are not a Yankees fan.

Oooooh! It looks like the gloves have come off and we have ourselves a nice littles treet brawl here! Well, if you consider a it a “brawl” when I destroy Bpark. That’s like sandblasting a soup cracker. It’s just not fair.

Well, I see that in his brief hiatus from these boards Butters has grown a pair (albeit a small pair, but let’s give him credit for at least contesting his apparant womanhood).

But could you have come up with something better than “eminem”? I mean, that’s just so incredibly unoriginal (surprise) and almost teetering on the edge of “festering with Velveeta”. I bet you don’t even know where the “440″ came from? that’s because, Butters Park Stotch the 3rd, your brain is smaller than that of a stegasaurus. And if you ever actually read a book (and the ones with pop-up pictures don’t count) you’d know that the scaley-backed reptile had a brain the size of a walnut (which is still about 8X larger than yours).

So, Mr Douch-ey, you seem to have misquoted me (surprise). I never said Johnson was good in NY….but he just happens to be a hall of fame pitcher, and the greatest lefty pitcher of the past, 30 effen years. But once again, Bpark proves that he only has one helix with yet another astronomically stupid and irrellevent comment. (surprise!) I swear, you are proof that there is no such thing as intelligent design, because if there was, whomever it was that made you was probably on Special K or lost a bet or something. You, my dear, dear friend, are as worthless as a russian space station. Cocain is a hell of a drug? I’m sure you must know, being that you snort it off Trannsvestite prostitutes’ private parts. Oh man….that last image is going to make me hurl. I’m sorry, but comparing me to “Marshal Mathers” is some serious fightin’ words. I’m sure Shelley Duncan will be a great addition to this team, just as Kei Igawa will be. I mean, judging from the spring trainings they had, why not just throw them in the all star game too? This, buddy boy, is the reason why you suck major moose gonads. You know nothing, and you make assumptions based on a very narrow point of view. This, you have to admit, is because you like to throw years of past performance out the window based on a few good weeks against really piss-poor competetion. I hope to god you are not an investment broker. That wouldn’t surprise me; I can smell your stench of rotting road kill right through the flat-panel screen.
I’d have respect for you if you actually demonstrated something that could remotely be mistaken for “intelligence”. I mean, c’mon; can you fake it, just once? That shouldn’t be so hard; those tranny hookers you patronize on a weekly basis can show you how to ‘fake it’.

But, I do appreciate you throwing down the guantlet here. Although, it isn’t much fun brutally obliterating someone who brings NOTHING to the table. I feel like an 18 wheeler that just ran over a chipmuck. I mean, it was fun to watch it go “splat”, but 10 minutes later, I’m scraping remnants of chipmunk entrails off my tires. Not a pretty sight.

If you want to learn how to get into a debate or an “intelligent” argument, then you should take a lesson from some of the more astute posters on this board, or any other for that matter. See, intellegent arguments require something that you severely lack: intelligence. Please, dude (or dudette, whichever the case may be) surpirse me sometime this year and actually say something compelling or remotely interesting; or just get a clue once per month, maybe after you finish with your PMS. I’d be the first person to praise you if you actually can muster up the motor neuron skills to do that. But until then, you are officially on the bottom end of the bell curve. Way, way at the bottom, like right before Dan Quayle.

And Igawa?

Like this

I am saying the answer is within…Gardner to confused right now Jackson.

Like this

Actually, Igawa was part of the Cabrera trade for Cameron but we were too bust to call the Brewers back, we had CC on the hook at the time.

The Better option appears to be Gardner and then eventually Austin confused Jackson.

Cameron is about done but you seem to value Melky as the next Carlos Beltran or something, Melky was demoted last year he regressed badly, he has solid defense but he has had 3 year and he struggles offensively.

Dunno, Igawa is pretty mediocre himself and he’s be part of any deal.

Cabrera’s salary is what 1.5? If he plays all year that salary is going up, I think he’ll be elsewhere.

Like this

Dunno, I think Cabrera has hit his ceiling sorry.

Matt, I sure hope this Eminem4040 guy is wrong. Andruw Jones might be a free agent soon but he’s not free, he will cost us alot of wins. I hope we do not even speak his name in the board room. Pedro might go back to the Mets for 1.5 + incentives. No Reliever is worth that money 6-8 unless they close.

Like this

Of course they do Matt. They have no options with Cabrera, they have to carry him till the end of spring training unless they trade him. His salary is too high to simply cut him. If he had minor league options, he would have followed Kennadia.

No way Joba goes back to the pen at the beginning of next year. He would only be there as an emergency and late in the year. Hughes will be in the rotation next year and at some point this year. Where does Lackey fit when with those to you add the big contracts of Sabathia and Burnett and the 8 and 2 following 2 19 win seasons from Wang.

Like this

I can totally see the Yankees going after Lackey. I just think that they would like his play off experience. If that is the case, don’t be surprised to see Joba in the bullpen and hughes #5….right now, nothing surprises me.

And I’m tellin ya, I think Gardner s going to be very, very good. The guy can hit in big spots.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
CC
Joba
Burnett
Wang
Hughes

Don’t see Lackey in that rotation.

Cabrera has the edge because of his salary and no minor league options but Gardner has won clearly. Jayson Stark says we are talking to Milwaulkie about Cabrera again.

It wasn’t the Japanese scouts, Bobby-G, it was strategic marketing on the part of Hanshin and the gullible NY Yankees overseas scouts who screwed this one up. I wouldn’t trust any more of the Yankee scouts in japan. They all drank way too much Sake when they green lighted that deal.

I hope I’m wrong and Igawa becomes the next Randy Johnson and blows away AL hitter this year. Yeah…right. I have a better chance of having and utterly righteous encounter w/ Tyra Banks than Igawa ever being relevent to a winning NY yankee team.

I hope Gardniner is the CF this year. He adds such a brilliant dynamic to the line-up. If he is consistant, he can be a bigtime difference maker. Hey, if Schmelk has is the 4th OF, I’ll take that.

I’m sure Mr Park would like to see us DFA Gardner and Go forth and sign AnDruw Jonsie.

Ok. So I looked at every minor league roster in the Yankees organization. I checked the 40 man roster, the active roster, and even the freaking rookie league roster. But I, unfortunately, CAN’T FIND ANY “SHELLEY” ANYTHING ON ANY TEAM ROSTER AFFILIATED WITH THE YANKEES. So, ButtersPark, can you please tell us what the hell you are talking about? Or are you going to be a nerfherder about this?

Transactions…depth chart…nothing. No Shelley. You must mean Stan Marsh’s sister, correct? You know, the one with head gear? I hate to break it to you, but she is not, nor anyone else named “shelley”, is on the Yankees roster.

Listen up Eminem 4040 wannabe.
Duncan is garbage and I told Matt that last year but he has earned a bench spot over Berroa.
Btw lil Eminem 4040 wannabe, I have no interest in Andruw Jones and neither do the Yankees. Gardner has earned the job.
