Here we are in Kissimmee for the second time this spring, playing at the lovely Osceola County Stadium complex. Completely trivial note: this has the distinction of being the place where I saw my first Minor League game in the summer of ’91. Brian Hunter was the only Astro to make it to the big leagues from that Florida State League contest …

GAME NOTES: CC Sabathia is a confirmed scratch from the road trip Sunday to Port Charlotte … Andy Pettitte and Jorge Posada are staying back from Fort Myers on Friday, but Robinson Cano is on the trip … The Astros agreed late to use a DH today, so Chien-Ming Wang won’t have to hit … Ramiro Pena has a slight groin injury and was scratched …  Brett Tomko, who pitches today, has a 1.74 ERA in 10 1/3 spring innings.

just noticed jeter is hitting.091 in the classic.

anyone worried about this?

I am not surprised the Astros are performing so poorly. Their pitching staff is a complete question mark, excluding Oswalt who is pitching in the WBC, so I fully expected them to flunk this year.

Expect the same from them moving into the season. Any team expecting 30 + starts from Mike Hampton AND Russ Ortiz is daydreaming. The team will be lucky to receive a combined 20 starts from these guys, of which only a fraction will be quality.

And they’ve just lost their starting third baseman, and Yankee playoff hero, Aaron Boone, who’s having open heart surgery. On the plus side, they’ll be getting Pudge Rodriguez back from the WBC any day now. That’s BOUND to make a difference!

Houston, you have a problem ^^
Don’t quite know what’s going on down there, they might have some pitching problems (not today though). Lucky for them, it’s still spring training and games don’t mean anything. They might as well start the season 14-1. That’s the beauty of baseball – you never know what’s gonna happen….just like last night…USA! USA! Derek will win his first championship for this year before the Yankees ever open the season😉

Anyone notice the Astros are 1-14-3? (And now on their way to loss #15)
