I’m another fool who agrees with the Nut-Job. When we’re desperate we can’t get equivalent value in a trade. And what do we do with any player acquired when A-rod returns? It may be just a smoke screen, but it looks like Ransom has already been chosen!

The thing is, you have to give up something to get something. If we trade only a mid-level prospect, then we would be very lucky to get back even a Ransom type. No one is going to give away a solid replacement 3B/bench infielder, especially not if it will help the Yankees.

That’s not to say we shouldn’t make a trade. In fact, I think we could package Swisher or Nady or build a deal around one of the young pitchers being boxed in due to our depth there. But only if we can get a solid enough player in return, one who will cover 3rd now, then backup all the IF positions and provide pop of the bench. Now there aren’t many players like that which we could get at a reasonable price.

That’s the biggest problem, we have a need, we are the Yankees, and the other 29 teams will be damned if they don’t make us overpay.

That’s why Cashman has to play all this down, make it look like Ransom has the job won, while the whole time he is making phonecalls. And I sure hope he makes one he likes, beacuse if Posada is going to play 2/3 of our games if we are lucky, and unless Gardner/Cabrera and Cano pick it up from 08, a bottom order of:
Cano
Ransom
Molina
Gardner/Cabrera

will mean a lot of easy outs.

The best option for the Yanks at this point is not to go out and trade or buy another third basemen…play Ransom at third base…Yanks are notorious for not giving their farm hands or utility players a chance to contribute…both leagues are littered with ex-yanks who were never given a shot because our front offices mindset is that there is always something greener in some one elses pasture.

Matt,
They’ll be satisfied with a repeat of what he did in 2008. Not sure how much a bad spring would change that!

Aussie B,
You are Fidel’s guest of honor I here. He will be returning to the US for the first time in many years for round 2. Iranian president wanted to go, visa denied.

Mate,
Yes, I realize that. But I though you could talk of pain in the knee joint without that cartilage!

Matt,
It looks like we’ll have Ransom playing 3B until A-rod comes back. Berroa may be added (or someone else) to be a UI until Ransom is free to return to that role.

The expression here is ” Sitting on the fence ” or 2 bob each way. Thats the way I will go. I do have though allegiances with The USA. I cannot see Australia getting over Cuba though, that said they did beat Cuba 12 months ago.

Sorry Bob, no experience with hips, only knees and too much experience in that area.

Think Kennedy has cooked his own goose. Guy is a good AAA pitcher but does not have the stuff to make it in the majors. got a feeling you are right bpark.

Lovin’ that old Jays logo up there, BTW. Why’d they ever change it?

Pettitte was only supposed to go 1 inning. He lobbied for them to allow him to throw 10 more in the second and finish up.

Mate,
I thought you might weigh in with some experience on missing cartilage in a joint which A-rod faces with the full operation!

I really don’t know what there going to do with Kennadia. As long as he is successful in AAA, I guess he’ll stay there until someone calls wanted to take him off our hands.

Like

How run for Garderdache. Kennadia roughed up in limited action.

Aussie Biambi, I responded to your other post.

Anyone notice in Baseball Classic Australia with 24 hits ( a record ) defeated Mexico 17-7, game over after 8 innings. Look Out USA !!!!!! and Cuba who are up next against the might of Australia. Did it make front page news in NYC !!!!.

Is anyone watching or listening to the current game. Pettite exited after1.2 innings was he on a 20 pitch limit and that was the reason ?

Bryan I don’t see anything on your Twitter page, did Pettitte just reach his pitch count?

What happened with the $6M version of Pettitte? It looks like he was pulled in the middle of the 2nd.
