The Yankees are Movin’ Out
Friday is moving day for the New York Yankees, who are officially ready to bring their belongings – including the 1977 and 2000 World Series trophies – across the street to the new Yankee Stadium.
In an effort to go ‘green,’ the Yankees are using plastic crates instead of cardboard boxes for the move. There will be a photo opportunity for the press in the Bronx in the morning.
While phone lines are expected to connect to their new numbers beginning Friday, the old ballpark won’t be completely abandoned – there will be a skeleton crew left behind for now, including the clubhouse staff, information technology, the ticket office, switchboard crew and a security detail.
