World Baseball Classic rosters released tonight

the World Baseball Classic are set to be announced at 6 p.m. ET, and here’s one safe bet for you — Derek Jeter will be on the United States squad, especially after traveling to Las Vegas during the Winter Meetings to talk about the WBC and sidling up to manager Davey Johnson.

You’ll remember that Alex Rodriguez is set to play for the Dominican Republic. But will he have company and familiar faces? As for the rest of the rosters, you’ll be able to find out by watching the MLB Network tonight. The provisional rosters were due on Friday night, and the final rosters of up to 28 players must be filed by Feb. 24.

Remember, the Yankees play a pair of exhibitions in Spring Training against WBC clubs at George M. Steinbrenner Field. That means that Jeter will have to dress in the unfamiliar third base clubhouse for the March 3 game against the Yankees. Can’t wait to see Jeter’s reaction to that, but I can already hear his comments in my head. Something tells me he’ll play it cool.

I remember seeing Pedroia’s announcement before Jeter’s.

Dustin Pedroia should be joining Jeter on the US squad.

Jeter’s Mr. Cool no matter what’s going on. Should be fun to watch. I’m going to Tampa and can’t wait for that first glimpse of Steinbrenner Field.
