The last press conference at old Yankee Stadium?

Looks like the cutting board will be brought out one more time. According to a club source, the Yankees plan to hold an announcement at Yankee Stadium early this
week to introduce Mark Teixeira, who agreed to an
eight-year, $180 million contract on Dec. 23.

announcement was pushed back by the holidays, and general manager Brian Cashman has been on vacation. As also reported by the New York Daily News, Teixeira is expected
to travel to New York for a physical that could take place as early as
Monday. Once completed, an announcement would be made, perhaps Tuesday.

addition moved New York’s winter investments past the $420 million
mark, with the $161 million committed to CC Sabathia and another $82.5 million to
A.J. Burnett.

I would answer in the same way the Big Unit did-by smashing a camera.

Always love that question. What’s the guy supposed to say? “Probably not well, I’m completely unprepared for it.”

Here comes the presentation of a dozen roses to Mrs. Teixeira and then Girardi helping Tex on with his jersey (or does Cashman do that?) The first question Mark gets from the writers? My guess: “How do you think you’ll handle the pressure in NY?”

Random fun fact:

Up-to-the-minute commitments …

New York Yankees (4 signees): $441.5 million
Other 29 clubs (45 signees): $356.2 million

A nice way for the Stadium to go out.
